Does eBay care if your driver's license has your middle initial but bank & ebay dont?
 

Does eBay care if your US driver's license has your middle initial but your bank account and eBay individual seller account (not business account) do not? Is it worth the risk of trying to add your middle initial on your eBay account and then waste time calling/mailing paper work to your bank to get them to add your middle initial as well (could takes weeks for it to show up on a statement)? I've heard of people getting immediately banned if they try to edit their eBay registration info while others did not so I'm not sure which is a less risky approach.

So basically I could choose:

Option A:
eBay: No middle initial (fictitious address)
Bank: No middle initial (fictitious address)
Driver's license: Has middle initial (real address)

Option B:
eBay: Add middle initial (fictitious address)
Bank: Add middle initial (fictitious address)
Driver's license: Has middle initial (real address)

Account is around 4 years old and they've only needed SSN + dob when MP started, no ID or bank statement requests ever. Never exceeded $20k in annual sales. Problem is the address is a fictitious address because our real address got banned like 10 years ago by eBay on an account registered by a family member (different first name, same last name) where they did NOT ask for ID, SSN, DOB or anything unique - just e-mail and address. Haven't gotten flagged for ID yet but anticipating it soon and want to avoid any downtime in the holiday season.

in the US maybe but only maybe , in the UK it is an issue , the first middle name must always be stated , if there are more they can be left out

Just remember that eBay can check the drivers license number in 44 of the states in the Union, so they will go by what your state has on the drivers license record.

Sigh... not true. It clearly states on the account owner details that the middle name is optional.

...unless you're suggesting that they're deliberately misleading us. :juggle:

middle name is optional because you may not have one but it is not optional if you have one and want to pass verification

the ebay verification page asking to update details and upload ID clearly states that personal details must exactly match the details on ID

it is actually very easy to check , anyone from the UK can request a free credit report online , they need to state their personal details so that the request could be fulfilled

you do not write the first middle name on ID in that request and the report will not be provided
