There is VeRo and there is high-risk. Be aware what is what. Prepare a listing that will work:doh:

Where does one get a list of such items ?
 

Can we welcome an open discussion regarding which brands are high risk and which brands are not ? It would be interesting to hear what others consider to be high risk ?

high end items - definitely high risk (had a verified account get suspended first day b/c of this: tried to sell an authentic yves saint laurent shirt, had bag & receipt.. no history = dont try)

expensive electronics (cameras, cell phones, video game systems) - high risk (on paypal side, big chance of disputes etc but limitations are a bit easier to get over.. show store receipts and you're in the clear)

I mean what brands ?

For example, I find Adidas to be much more high risk than Nike !

nike, ralph lauren, lacoste (some people have had problems with this though) = no problems in my experience

high end (lv, gucci, prada, ysl, etc), farouk, red monkey (this one was especially troublesome for me as i was selling a pair of jeans of mine but it kept getting taken down by red monkey designs which was a totally different company)

Is it a good idea to go and ask the Vero owner and get their approval directly before listing a Vero Item? I mean they're all listed on Ebay so couldn't you just visit their page and get it in writing that they've approved your lsitings. You'll have no trouble from them then right?

I don't think you can do that, can you? I'd like to know too if anyone tried with success..It would certainly take out the anxiety out of listing authentic stuff.

Answer to Ebay Vero Crackdown
 

To answer the post by Jessein Karon, I had 2 auctions pulled for dvd sets just recently that I had been selling for years. I used ebay's canned pictures and descriptions. When ebay pulled the auctions, and I asked why, the only thing they would say is that there were certian "indcators" present in my auctions.
The only thing I can think of is that it must have been my very low starting auction price. I think if you are going to list "questionable" stuff, you need to make sure that it is not priced so low, as to raise a red flag.

They are probably watching my account, so what I will do now is switch the listings to a different account and sell them until the inventory is gone.

I listed a watch/ cellphone (unbranded) on Ebay, took my own pictures, went through the process of filling in the check boxes of what features the phone had on it. It did have SMS (text message capability) so I checked that box. Listed the item, bought it from a chinese wholesaler (again no name brand). One day later received a Vero take down and MC019 from ebay 2 strikes for this one item. The right owner SMStechnologies in Australia had contacted ebay and told them the item violated their patent. Well why in the hell would they have a check box in the description where you could indicate that the device supported this technology if it's a patent violation????? I did not have SMS in the title only in the prefilled Ebay info. I tried unsuccessfully contacting smstechnologies.com.au via email and sent a letter via my prepaid legal attorney and not a word from them, contacted ebay and the usual garbage "the right owner does not have to reply to you, they have signed a form ..blah blah blah..., We have instructed the rights owner to contact you but we cannot make them contact you, bottom line, one of my clean accounts pre Nov. 2007, no policy violations now had a "failing" in the seller dashboard section due to these two violations. What a joke!!!!! Anyone else had any of this B**LSH** happen to them recently? I had never sold a phone in my life before this one, it wasn't like I had 20 Iphone knockoffs up for auction at the same time. That was the only item listed.

I disagree. I sold high end designer handbag that new would be around $2500. Mine was vintage in excellent condition, had tons of pictures, my original bid was $0.99.
I expected to get around $1300 (I would list for that if I wanted to list BIN), but the auction closed at couple hundreds more, $1500 +. It works great if you want to save on listing fees. Ebay will slap you with high fees on the end side of it anyway.
I did get a seller ask why I was listing such expensive item with low starting price, so I told the truth. I get more in auction style listings.

I had my fill of deadbeat buyers on auction style listings, i only do buy it nows with immediate payment. I also had cases were competitors would bid, then refuse to pay and threaten negative feedback, just wasnt worth it. With BIN, the only person that buys it, is the person that can afford it when they click the BIN button. This way i get questions prior to bidding, not after, and if competitors want to risk loosing their money, i always welcome them!

I think that competitors are a HUGE problem for VERO items right now, most new sellers that think you can just jump on the Ebay bandwagon and start listing 50 Lacoste or Polo items get shut down, then you get questions, from them as to why you have over 3000 feedbacks and have been selling since 1999, I have a theory that with all the recent VERO takedowns in the last 3 or 4 months that competition is the major blame for most if not all my takedowns. I think listing in Featured Plus and listing alot of listings at a time is a serious NO NO if you want to stay afloat and sell VERO in today's Ebay environment. Not too much attention drawn to yourself and hit it and quit it, like an Asian blackjack dealer in Vegas told me a 4 a.m at the Sahara, after 12 or 15 whiskey and cokes, and I had lost over all of the $4K that I had won, "You Stay Too Long". Same goes with Ebay, on and then off for a while with multiple accounts and "DON'T STAY TOO LONG" :-)

Well, I am selling the Mother of all VEROs and not afraid of it because it is authentic. Still, I have problems and I have to deal with bunch of stuff because of it. Coolandcalm like you said, BIN may on surface have advantages.. However, if you do little homework, set your Ebay settings right, block certain bidders...you can do much better with auction style. I learned that by actually having non paying bidders too.....My auctions are 5,7 or 10 days.

Hello, I'm a new user of this forum. Just like many of us I got hooked to this site after my account became suspended on eBay on 13th May 2011 and I recieved MC021. Yeah it sounds increadibly horrible and it had taken the life out of me. I tried negotiating with eBay but none of their concern really, they sent me two customs email saying their decision still stands.

I'm student and eBay was just a part time source of income till the day it finished like a sand castle leaving me nothing and taking out money from my account for false dispute by my buyers. I've been selling and buying iPhones, iPads, iPhods and branded clothing of the ebay on bidding and re-selling it on eBay again with profit. It was a time consuming process up untill I purchased a pair of Dre Beats Studio for 130GBP off the eBay once. I contacted seller and upon asking he finally gave his seller info after a long conversation. I purchased and sold 15 of these headphones and they were gone like a hot choclate cake. Upon placing another oder of 10 pairs and listing them up on eBay I got my all listings taken off the site, not only this they sent emails to the Buyers and watchers of my listings. I recieved 35 messages within 8hours and only 8 of them were my actual buyers. I also recieved disputes from buyers who had left me positive feedbacks for the items 15 days prior to the suspension. I ended up losing 1900GBP in paypal disputes for items which were delivered and recieved positive feedbacks for them. I've had 274 feedbacks and 10 of them were for the headphones only. Despite being all of them positive and working with paypal for four years nothing really worked out well for me in the end.

I believe my listing was taken down for competitors complains because there were other sellers and they're still selling their headphones for 119GBP inc shipping. I even was selling my pair for 130GBP inc shipping still how could they figure out that I've had this Vero item which I'm selling or did i make a mistake somewhere in the process I don't really have a clue.

^ You have to have legit supplier info for the high risk vero items you have mentioned. These kind of items are heavily counterfeited and obviously not allowed on eBay.

Search the forum about the item you was selling. You will be suprised how many people done the same thing and are now suspended from eBay.

Learn stealth and find a different item to sell.

If you were Allowed by the VERO to sell them on Ebay they would not Report your User ID.

Because as Mentioned above these are HEAVILY Counterfeited items, If you are Not approved by the VERO You get Reported,,,ALWAYS Best to AVOID these types of Items,,I Know that there are Many,,but it is the best way to do Ebay/Amazom

Yea, companies still crack down on high risk items mostly because there not making a profit and they want there retail stores to make more money. I just had a big vero takedown and many other sellers I researched on car audio equipment this week. Your best bet is if you want to sell those headphones even if they get taken down is too spread through tons of accounts like 10-20 and you should be fine making decent good money.
