ebay got me again 10-23-2009 06:52 PM

Received a letter from a VERO lawyer today

Today i received a letter from a VERO lawyer today basically saying they want all my contacts info, my ebay seller id, turn over all merchadise to them, pay them about 500.00 and sign a letter saying i wont sell there product anymore. Now my problem is they have all my real info because this ebay account is my original one i created before i knew about stealth, but i tried using stealth after i read the book and still ebay got me for vero rights. So im in a bind here i want to beleive the letter is bogus but i called the number during off business hours and the answering machine confirmed who they say they are. Has anyone ever gotten a letter like this and if so what did you do even tough i know most are in stealth so you probablly ignored even if you did.

Here We Go Again 10-23-2009 07:02 PM

I have gotten these before on my Stealth accounts.
I throw them away because I know that my stealth info is done correctly and done well.

The one I got years ago that came with my real info.....
I call and talked to them.
I signed a letter saying that I was sorry and I would not do it again.
I did not know any better and I only had the 1 or 2 items that they bought from me.
Boo Hoo.....
No $ or anything else changed hands.
This was a designer apparel company and I was talking directly to their corp. lawyer.

So do you suggest i just go ahead and call them during business and talk to them claiming ignorance and hopefully this works and just never use this account again for this? Because they got me very worried.

If you do decide to call them then do it from a clean phone.
You can always claim you were just dumb and did not know any better.
And that you do NOT have any more of what ever the widget was.

As for a source of the widgets in question you can always claim you got them at the local Goodwill or Salvation Army store... Or even TJ Max.

As for the account....
If it is still a valid account with your real info then you can use it as your buying account for stuff you want.
Or for selling NON-VERO type items.

according to my attorney ...Dont call them !! I went through this a couple times ..if you ignore them they usually go away unless they think you are manufacturing their products...i got a couple letters from one last November than never heard another word .It cost alot of money to go to federal court and usually has to be done in your state .what they want is you to stop .

trig 11-03-2009 01:18 PM

gib --any more information on this?

you can pm me if u want.

boondoggle 11-04-2009 12:50 AM

Just ignore it. Don't have any contact with them whatsoever and it will go away. If they want to chase it up then its up to them, but for $500 they won't. Don't worry about it.

trig 11-04-2009 06:13 AM

mine said 10k

GreenBean 11-04-2009 06:24 AM

define 'letter'. Email or certified post. The difference is BIG>

trig 11-04-2009 06:56 AM

mine was an email with 2 pdf attachments.
a demand letter and a complaint letter. ( the complain letter was several pages)

There has been no mention of a letter coming by mail.

The went to my site and purchased an item directly from my site.
(at least thats what they said)

GreenBean 11-04-2009 07:00 AM

Great. IN the USA, an email is not regarded as legally serving you of any notice of legal action. Empty scare tactic to quote vicvelcro. Reasonably, you can ignore this

trig 11-04-2009 07:03 AM

so, wait n see if a mail letter comes?

If it does, I will not sign for it.

nowhere in the email is my name mentioned --only my address and 'business' name.

I can show you the pdf's if u want. they're scaaaarryyy!

GreenBean 11-04-2009 07:11 AM

'scarrrrrrrrryyyyy' is their tactic.

trig 11-04-2009 07:21 AM

well it's working --gulp.

and this company has been real ticked of lately.

Here We Go Again 11-04-2009 01:44 PM

If you are really interested in what they have on you, you can look for yourself here:
Justia Federal District Court Filings and Dockets

This is a link to a Federal Court Docket Search Engine.
This is a cool place to look around..... LOL

trig 11-04-2009 02:40 PM

when do you think something would show up on that site?

Here We Go Again 11-04-2009 03:34 PM

If they are sending you papers asking you to stop selling widget A and you can not find any information on that web site by searching ALL of your info (real & false) then you do NOT have a case filed against you.

Just breath and relax.

If you want to PM me with the company name then I might be able to tell you what they would do or how far they will go....

trig 11-04-2009 08:48 PM

pm sent -- TY!

aspkin 11-04-2009 09:25 PM

Sounds like scare tactics trig.. but talking to you a few days ago you're dealing with the big boys and a very competitive market. You may want to stick to selling on marketplaces like eBay where you can be anonymous rather your own website where it's a little harder.

Well i actually contacted this vero company since this account was in my real name and had all my real info and sure enough i have to pay them the amount they asked for and all the info they asked for also. Not only did i get the email they actually sent me the same exact letter in the mail. So it goes without saying i wont be using this account anymore. But they were real sweet they offered me a nice little payment plan over a 3 month period lol. Lessoned learned dont use your real info or a friends or familys info eaither when selling these vero items to risky. I didnt want to chance not paying them and then something happening even though i dont believe they would take me to court with all the fees it would cost them among other inconvenent matters.
