Bogus Vero or Real
 

Hi All

I recently had the following E-Mail from Ebay. Ok I understand the product I have is not licensed but counting on Ebay there are 20 pages of identical listings on Ebay.com and Ebay.co.uk

Is the email address kmwlaw@flash.net real or is it some idiot trying to screw me over because the Email address dosent look very official to me.

The email addresas is REAL. It is used by Keats McFarland & Wilson LLP. They represent 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Dreamworks and others. They are located in Beverly Hills, California.

If this were a scam, the email would not have come from eBay.

If your item is legitimate, you can try to contact them and see if they will allow you to continue to sell it. If your item is NOT legitimate, then consider yourself lucky that this was just a VERO takedown and not a federal lawsuit being filed against you.

The entertainment companies have been taking it on the chin, so to speak, for years when it comes to counterfeits. They have been lobbying the US government for help to prosecute sellers of such materials criminally - but the government has done little to help them. So, they are now becoming more aggressive in enforcing their copyrights via civil lawsuits. Of course, that is better than having the FBI coming after you, but you still do not want to be on their radar.

The next question I have is why have I had this listing removed twice on different unrelated accounts and several competitors have been sailing along for the last year without issue with this same product.


Am i being reported to this company by a competitor because this is twice now and the competion just sails along

Comments as to why are conjecture.

Those other users may have permisiion to sell.
Those other users may be about to be suspended.
Those other users AND you are dealing with a VeRo member who can be proactive in preventing their goodies being sold.

Read carefully what jeffweico wrote. If it is a foo-foo item, stop selling it because there will be consequences. :boink:

dduval you can always go to ebays help page and go to the Vero section and there they have a list of all the Vero people and there contact info so in the future if you are unsure about if an email is real that will clear it up asap.

I have no problem stopping selling the item but reading between the lines Im thinking the competition is report me to the vero company because these people and I know some of them personally sell the same items from the same suppliers and carry on without issue
