Default dongle won't change IP address

So i got the 3 dongles that MM78 was selling. The thing is today i went to t mobile and i paid the activation cost etc for the 1.5gb plan. aka 35 dollars. When i got home today i was like hey let me try it so i conected the dongle to my computer and installed their program. I connected just fine to the internet and checked my ip. 208.54.37.248 THEN if i disconect and reconect i get ip address 208.54.37.248 BUT THERE IS MORE!!! i tried reinstalling the program and taking the dongle off the computer and WHAT???? YES you GUESSED IT the ip ADDRESS STAYED 208.54.37.248 XD.

is this usual? does this happen to other people? is there a way to change it?

yes i read the sugested threads and it didn't show anything to solve this.

Wait for other people to chime in but I did read a bit about some IP problem with the tmobile dongle - perhaps that time of the day related or a dongle bug.

i bought a 4g tmobile dongle from walmart about 60 days ago and had the same problem -- it was useless to me and a waste of $100 + month subscribtion. Gave it to the kids so they can use it with laptops in car.

The location that you are using the device in determines whether it will have a dynamic or Static IP address. It is determined by the carrier's footprint and layout in your area. That explains why you are getting different results then MM78. Try Sprint and Verizon. Take advantage of their 14 day return/void contract period.

Dongles with Dynamic IP's are a positive thing for stealth. I think you mean you don't want Static IP Dongles in the UK.

Are you disconnecting your current modem from your PC.

And then connecting the usb dongle ?

or using both at the same time ?

Disconnecting a dongle and reconnecting after a few minutes would not make any difference. You get connected via a dongle using the nearest cellular/data tower. Since your mac address does not change and you are connected to the same tower again, YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET THE SAME IP.

If you had a laptop, take a drive just a mile away, and assuming, there is another tower, you will get a new IP address.

If you lived in a metropolitan area, getting different IPs from the same location is self-explanatory, because there are so many phones grabbing IP addresses.

If you have more than one dongle, you will always get a different IP on each dongle.

I hope this helps.
