if you have a credit or debit card account you will not need a phone number to open an account. Ebay give you the option to receive phone call or verify with card number..
use a viop landline number attached to did[landline#], do some research they are cheap in Aus. faktortel is good. numbers can be added and changed as needed

Can't remember all of the details as they woke me up. But they basically wanted to verify that it was me.
What freaked me out, was that there was no warning.
I use Voip and have a dynamic IP. I just turn the router off and on between accounts to get a new IP address and make sure that the Voip is still working.

What plan do you have with faktortel? home , business or reseller?? and also how t change and add the number
I dont have an account with Faktortell but I did call them the other day after reading this post.
Personal is one number, Business is about 5 numbers from memory. you can upgrade anytime between one and 5 or 50 depending on your need and the cost.
The best thing about their plans is that they give you the hardware if you opt for a 6 month account. There's plenty of VOIP companies in australia now but the other ones I've seen don't bundle the VOIP box in with the deal. So overall it's a bloody good deal and a minimum set up cost.
If you opt for one number and use it with an ebay account you can change it at any time to a new number. They told me there's no limit to how often or how many times you can change one number if need be.
You can use one handset with 5 numbers too because the other 4 numbers won't ring they will go to the associated message bank. So you can switch your handset to any port as much as you like instead of buying 5 new handsets and cluttering up your office.
If you have a Telstra modem/router you will need to hack it (there's details on whirlpool forum how to do it) to allow the VOIP because Telstra in their infinite wisdom have disabled VOIP service on routers so that they won't put themselves out of money from there landline business, shock horror Telstra Bigpond do not offer VOIP.
Note: Faktortell only supply Metropolitan numbers which isn't so good for country people.
If you go for a metro number..... use it for calling out on as STD and Local calls are cheap.
But use your landline to get your friends and family to call you because they will be paying STD rates to call a faktortell assigned metro area even if they live next door.
One the plus side... A lady I know that lives in ballarat has a sister in Cairns so she set up her VOIP number for Cairns and can talk to her sister for the cost of a local call :o)
Note: I looked at signing up with Faktortell today and even though they charge $15 mth for a business account they will charge you for the first 6 months to sign up.
I have used other services online like TFForwarding and so forth.
Is this Faktortel service similar to that meaning can i just sign up get a new landline number then have that forwarded to my mobile phone and thats all?
I dont get what port forwarding has to do with that even if i had 5 numbers forwarded to my mobile all calls would still go through
