I've just had a customer ask me to drop a price by 40 dollars for him. I hate these sorts of people. When I said no he asked how low I would go. Surely the price listed is as low as I'm willing to go? It's turned into a right begging letter, he even called me friend. God I hate people.
How do you guys deal with this? I've tried to be polite as possible but this guys writing me a sob story.

Sorry, just noticed it's etsy, so don't know if you can block them.
Best to just ignore them if you can't block them.

That usually pisses me off. I can't go barter with Amazon so don't barter with me.

Funny thing is, that same person who begs for the item to be cheaper will usually also be a problematic customer, or picky, or just right down dumb.

I've had customers complain before in the hopes of getting discount after a sale, I just got them to return it then sold it on full price
I think I remember trying to block someone on Et.sy years ago and being told I couldn't. Or am I missing something?

Don't bother to waste your time replying - you have time for other more important matters...you're better than this zenohki - yes it is annoying but we all get these requests.

**** all that noise, no reduced price. If you want to haggle go take a short trip down to your local market or something.
Again, fck that noise.
I get a lot of people asking for reduced price on Ebay, not so much on Etsy.
On Etsy, there are more and more people who contact me, say that they really really love my product and why don't I ship it for free- In return they'll take some cool photos of themselves using it, and I can use the photos. Then they usually go on about how much social media followers they have and how exposure will really improve my sales.
Btch please, get the fck out of here with that bllsht.
Those types of people are the new parasites of the internet. People don't even scam anymore, they just straight up ask for free stuff.

| This, Oh I hate this.
When I first started out my brother begged to create my website and insisted I give away products to people like this to help with SEO. I learned very quickly that my brother had no idea what he was doing.
I thought this kid was done but new message this morning. I think he needs a lesson in pride :/

some people are just out to get free stuff or pay for less in life...and all their family and friends know that.....they are the sort of people who do not pay back loans....
other people think, 'if you dont ask, you dont get' and why not try and see - eg. if you want to reduce your insurance and you call retentions dept.......that works for big business...not a little guy with their eye on a margin......worldly people should know the difference, about when and when not to ask for discounts.....

It must work for them, or people wouldn't do it, surely?
One guy once offered to promote my products on his YouTube channel if I sent him free stuff. Very kind offer but I had to decline.

the trick to asking for a discount, is not to look desperate and that you have no other options....

I agree, if they try 100 people they of need one to agree for it to be worthwhile.
I can think of better ways to spend my time than scrounging for freebies, but I guess some people have nothing better to do.

He would go somewhere and make out he was doing the shop a favour by buying so much "so what you going to give me in exchange for my generosity"
He'd maybe get a low cost item for "free" but he would pay full price and more for the rest.
Whereas I, if I was just nice and friendly, got loads of discount help and freebies. I would say that's just because I'm a girl, but my current partner gets way more free **** than I do from local businesses. It really pays to not be a jerk.

Yes that's true. I've also notice that this kind of people happen to be the most problematic.

I get this all the time too! Literally got a message from someone the other day saying it was their birthday soon and asked if I could send them something free. Some people are honestly just stupid. Its just because its online though, I doubt these people would go into a shop and say "hey its my birthday soon give me free stuff". I just dont reply to those types of messages now.

the other side of the coin is the buyer that says by private mesage, that they did not receive on every purchase they make, hoping for an instant refund, so they will not need to open a case....if you say to them to open a case, they do not and move on to someone else, they know too many INR cases means bans
