well established wholesalers and manufactueres are leary selling to cyber business, they dont know much about business, retail or wholesale and they sell for very slim markup and destroy their network of traditional retailers.
You dont see ROLEX,LEICA,Nike,Meissen selling to anyone, everyone ?
if you are serious starting a retail business, attend trade shows, start with your city ,there are usually a wholesale district or merchandise mart,go online and find trade show schedules, there are many trade shows for gifts, antiques, dollar stores, books ,time pieces etc all over the world.
San Fran and LA you will find more overseas manufactuers and wholesalers of SE Asia,NYC you will find more European vendors.
Book show in Atlanta also have vendors selling stationary and accessories.
The largest jewelry show is the one in Tuscon, you need to find housing first,
the largest antique show in the world is held twice a year near London,UK.
The largest dollar store trade show is held in Las Vegas.
Frankfurt Germany ,Birmingham,UK,Tokyo,Japan,Hong Kong, China,Zurich,Paris,Dubai.
Plan your vacation to attend some, start with local or nearby ones.
BTW,many retailers will also do wholesale, usually 20% off,of course you can do better if you order direct from the manufacturer.
You should also apply for a retail certificate from your city, some vendors do not do business unless you are a true retailer
Give me a break,China is not the only country making things you can sell online or offline, look around,go to tradeshows.
Start with your local wholesale district, merchandise mart, google trade show schedules, some could be held in or near where you live.
Retail stores will also sell you at a 20% discount.
Or even let you take pictures and buy when you have sold the item online.
Not every one is internet savvy .
light bulb !
how about AMZN??
