Amazon

I have never sold anything on amazon before so clean and fresh there.

do any of you guys have any do's an dont's about selling there?

EFIL4OREV 06-24-2010 08:57 AM

Im also wondering the same thing....please help!

I believe the first month(s) velocity limit on how much $$ you can sell and stay under the radar is $500.

Vicvelcro 06-24-2010 11:49 AM

$750, but better to stay under $700 just to avoid accidents.

rocksolid68 06-24-2010 12:14 PM

Thanks for the velocity limit clarification Vic. If you are only selling VERO items will staying under $700 keep you off their radar? And does that limit increase after the first month?

Vicvelcro 06-24-2010 12:16 PM

VeRO is an eBay issue. Has nothing to do with Amazon.

rocksolid68 06-24-2010 12:17 PM

Ok - so selling particular software etc. won't by itself throw up flags to Amazon?

Just the feedback, or lack thereof, and the dollar amounts you are selling monthly?

Vicvelcro 06-24-2010 12:25 PM

Software can be problematic. Certain titles are in the restricted category. If not restricted, flags won't go up.

The dollar value only applies regarding velocity. Feedback is nice. Lack of feedback isn't so bad. Negative feedback sucks.

rocksolid68 06-24-2010 12:42 PM

Thanks much for the education - us relative newbies appreciate it.

Amazon is also very big on customer service. If a customer wants to ask you a question, the email goes through Amazon.

So, try to reply to any inquiries quickly. Always be polite and professional. NEVER antagonize a customer, or a potential customer.

Shipping the same day or the next day is CRITICAL.

Don't try to drop-ship on Amazon. Especially if yopur supplier is outside the USA. The items will take too long to arrive, and customers will complain.

If a customer has any problems with the order, offer them a full and immediate refund. If you think they will complain directly to Amazon, offer them an extra $5 (or whatever is reasonable) for return shipping.

Don't let ANYTHING escalate to an A-Z Guarantee claim or a chargeback.

Always leave 5 star positive feedback for buyers immediately.

Always ship using a tracking number. Amazon and their customers really like this.

If you sell quality items, treat people well and ship quickly, you should have no problems. The buyer mentality on Amazon is very different from the buyer mentality on eBay. They expect quick shipping and good communication.

Amazon is also more technically advanced than eBay. They will flat-out tell you that all email is saved for 2 years and that they have systems in place to detect fraud. They have ZERO TOLERANCE for counterfeit products of any type. ONE ACCUSATION can get your account closed, even if your items are 100% genuine.

Here are some quick ways to LOSE an Amazon Sellers Account:

1) Be lazy answering emails.
2) Be lazy with shipping.
3) Sell poor quality items.
4) Be rude to their customers or employees.
5) Argue with customers who want a refund. Amazon has a 30 day return policy, so you cannot state "no returns" or 7 days like you can on eBay.
6) List lots of high risk items (those heavily counterfeited) within the first few days or weeks of opening an account. It will not help that your items are genuine if Amazon suspects something is wrong.
7) List lots of DVD's at prices that are lower than you can legitimately get wholesale.

When delaing with their employees, keep in mind that Amazon is ALLOWING you to sell on their site. Be polite and courteous. NEVER THREATEN THEM OR AMAZON IN ANY WAY! There is no constitutional right to sell on Amazon. If they close your account, move on. The odds of prevailing in some type of discrimination lawsuit against them are next to nil. If they think you are up to no good, or even if they just think you are a lousy seller, they have every right to close your account.

haven't read this any where but i have come to this conclusion myself. To sell VERO items that are phakes u would probably want to stock half and half....50% real 50% phakes? This is for when you need to show them that your selling authentic items? am i right?

If AMAZON thinks you are selling phakes, they will simply close your account. Amazon is VERY PROTECTIVE of their reputation. The last thing Amazon wants is to be known as Ebay v2.0

yeah i realise Amazon is much more strict thats why i think it best to mix up your stock with a lil bit off both. I have seen phakes and reals of many products and there is lil difference if there high quality phakes.

Think of Amazon as an Alternative Method

What are my chance of selling such item as p90x dvd sets on amazon with the manufacture selling them new through them? I will open each p90x and claim it as used, but how many sales of such dvds will raise a red flag? Does red flags pop up for amazon for multiple same item sales?

There is no way everyone on Amazon is innocently selling their used copies of 'p90x' or 'insanity' or whatever used dvd set. What is the workaround?

rsot 07-21-2010 09:30 AM

Ha sparky - your post is kind of funny because you are asking for tips on selling the p90x dvd sets...why they are so popular is beyond me and what rips do actual people make from sales is also unknown to me - maybe someone can enlighten me with a PM.

Anyhow, all I know is that your questions might go unanswered since these seem to be the lifeblood of some sellers. Best thing is to explore Amazon and try it out.

I am not ragging on you at all =) just my advice.

It's because people think by buying a popular exercise and participating in it at the very least, that they will get even the slightest positive results regardless of if they following the whole guidelines.

The workout works but as with everything advertised or shown on TV, they make it seems easy to do and thus provide easier sales for them.

rsot 07-21-2010 11:38 AM

Good to know sparky - i am not really getting into that but the way they seem to sell...wow ha.

Hercules 07-21-2010 05:10 PM

I never knew that you can leave buyers feedback.
