Question about Amazon - if I am repeating a thread, apologies...
 

Hey there,

I am getting into Amazon...using dial-up (UGH on loading times but whatever).

My question is using my laptop, if I make a user account for each Amazon account and connect using different dial-up connections, is this a safe way to maintain my accounts?

I figure I need different phone verification and credit cards for each.

I really do welcome some confirmation before I waste my time.

With Amazon, I have always used a totally separate PC and internet connection for each account.

Yes, it is overkill, but remembering to mask MAC addresses and change IP's each time you log on, PLUS all of the other stuff is overwhelming. At least for me. For those more technically inclined, one PC is probably all you need.

I buy a used PC for $150 or so, wipe it clean and use that. Add a wireless broadband card for $40 a month or so, and I'm good to go. For me, $40 per month and $150 upfront is worth it for the sales I make.

jeffweico - diff pcs would do the trick - you wipe it clean by doing format and such I figure. How long do you usually last?

MY concern with using 1 pc with multiple user accounts is - correct me if i am wrong - the computer ID Name is tracked by Amazon no?

Incorrect.
The NIC is tracked and MUST be spoofed.
ALL of them. Some of mine have more than 10.
I spoof all of them. Even if they are inactive and not "visible".

I think I'm going to give this a try. I have a laptop that I don't use. Do you buy the aircards on a month to month contract? All I can find are the 12 month contracts. :(

So, based on what I read, having a dial-up modem avoids the network interface identification issue with MAC address and such.

You have to either DISABLE the NIC devices in your system, or spoof the MAC addresses. I am told that just because you are not using the port, does not mean that it cannot be read. I believe they use some JAVA script to do this.

Have you tried Cricket? They are month to month and issue a DYNAMIC IP. You could also try Virgin Mobile, but they use STATIC IP's, so they cannot be changed. This means that if your account gets shut down, the Virgin Mobile card is useless and will have to be replaced.

I use a different PC name for each PC. Yes, they can see it. VicVelcro once posted to change the name to DELL_USER or HP_USER as there are millions of them.

How long I last depends on the customers and competitors. If you get complaints about quality, it won't matter what you sell, you can get shut down. Selling higher-risk items like DVD's or Software means you can get shut down FASTER. I think that one mistake most people make when selling DVD's or Software is to have the lowest price on everything they sell. Amazon KNOWS what the distributor pricing is for this stuff. YES, distributors have deals all the time, but nobody can have the lowest price on everything. And if the price of an item is normally $250, and you list it for $100, they will know that something is wrong.

Remember, they do NOT have to have PROOF that you are doing anything wrong, just the SUSPICION. So your items could be 100% legitimate and legal and you STILL could get shut down. In this regard, they are worse than eBay.

Also, someone mentioned changing the pics, but with Amazon there ARE NO PICS! They have their own. You need to have a UPC code for everything you sell. Even with a PRO Merchant account, you STILL need a UPC. All the PRO account does is allows you to REQUEST that Amazon add your item. If you are the manufacturer, you will have to apply for and be issued a UPC code. Several companies do this and it costs $50 or so.

If you want to last on Amazon, I suggest the following:

1) Only list HIGH QUALITY items.
2) Respond POLITELY to any legitimate inquiries from Amazon, their employees or customers. Also respond TIMELY.
3) ALWAYS ship with a tracking number and enter it when shipped. DO NOT WAIT until there is a problem to give them a tracking number.
4) If you receive any inquiries that are THREATENING in nature that are not from a customer, do NOT respond to them. Sometimes competitors set up ⊗⊗⊗⊗ buyer accounts and send emails through Amazon accusing you of piracy, counterfeiting, fraud, etc. Responding can only HURT YOU!
5) If Amazon requests any information, respond IMMEDIATELY.
6) If Amazon shuts you down by "blocking" your account DO NOT FIGHT IT, unless you can ABSOLUTELY PROVE that everything is Kosher, so to speak.
7) Keep your sales relatively LOW on each account. The more you sell, the more attention you will attract.
8) If a customer has a problem, ALWAYS give the refund IMMEDIATELY. Do NOT wait for them to return the item (but always ask them to do so). Yes, you may lose some merchandise this way, but Amazon is almost as bad as eBay when it comes to siding with the buyer. The last thing you want is any A-Z Guarantee claims or chargebacks.
9) Be POLITE and PROFESSIONAL at ALL TIMES. Being rude or argumentative in ANY WAY will get you shut down.
10) ALWAYS SHIP THE SAME DAY OR THE NEXT DAY! Almost ALL of my positive feedback starts with something like "Received my item quickly" or "Seller ships FAST".

Buyer mentality on Amazon is VERY DIFFERENT from the buyer mentality on eBay. eBay buyers always want the cheapest price. On Amazon, they want QUALITY first, then a decent price.

If you get great feedback, and no negatives, you do not necessarily have to have the lowest price to get sales. Many people on Amazon will skip over sellers with ANY negative feedback or no feedback and go with a higher priced vendor they feel they can trust.

On the laptop I used for dial-up, I actually disabled all wireless connection to the router at home so it is only accessible with dial-up. Thanks for the heads-up. No sales yet but account seems to be ok.

When I switch user accounts to set up a new one and use different dial-up/location is the time when I hope my plan works.

I also changed the laptop name as per Vic's comments from a previous post to something like Compaq Computer or User or something.

I still use laptop with dial up and I have 7 Amazon accounts running. I use different user account/ip addresses. I received my laptop from China through Alibaba. For $900 I purchased an Acer Gemstone 18.4 inch 450gb (valued at $2300) with Bluray Drive.

Alas, the scammers sent me a used and well worn 15 inch Chinese laptop. By all means not worth even $100. However, since going stealth, amazon has never detected it as I'm still making new accounts along with the current ones and also had all the previous suspended accounts from this same laptop. It has made me tens of thousands from amazon.

I only use one phone. Tossabledigits gives me a new # for 2.75 each I think to have calls forwarded to my cell phone. I purchase a # from my area, use it and discontinue it before next months cycle comes around.

How I can change/spoof my MAC address? Thanks!
