A few newbie questions about amazon
 

hi, ive never used amazon to sell or buy.
ive had a search on the net and on here but im still a little confused.

does AZ have a seperate auciton site that acts like ebay?
it doesnt seem to have......

or, do you become a seller and sell products that already exist on az and then when a normal buyer does a search for items, and if you are selling that item is is also listed. when the buyer buys the item they think they are buying it from az?

could somebody please explain how it works.
can you just look at items from sellers?
can you checkout feedback etc like ebay?

Amazon is not an auction site - you just list and hope people buy.

There is no separate auction site.

You can only sell products that normally exist on AZ unless you become pro seller and create some stuff with UPC code, etc.

Yes buyer thinks they are buying it from AZ but as long as you deliver quality item, no problem in general.

Yes there is feedback - hard to get people to leave it regularly. Checkout is just credit card.

so how do you know if you are buying from a seller or from amazon?
can you tell by the listing?

When you go to a product, the Amazon Price is displayed. Below that, it tells you how many others are available New and Used, and the lowest new and used prices.

Buyers KNOW they are not buying directly from Amazon, but they have confidence in their purchase since it is covered under the Amazon A-Z Guarantee.

Amazon DID have auctions years ago, but they have long since abandoned the format - and they sucked anyway. Still, they were probably the closest eBay competitor at the time. I DID make some nice sales, but my eBay sales outnumbered them by 10-1.
