Default MAC...really?

Just finished Amazon Ghost. A good read.

I was surprised to see that your MAC address is defiantly a factor in linking accounts.

I was unaware of this and have been running 5 accounts from the same PC with no problems (and this is the PC my original account was suspended).

Would it be worth it to change it?

OK... So you are running 5 stealth AMAZON accounts on the same PC that was banned, and your MAC address was never changed????

If that is what you are saying, I don't know HOW those accounts survived, unless maybe God REALLY REALLY loves you!

But eBay does not use this technique - at least not yet.

I don't know what good changing anything at this point would do. Amazon keeps records, so if the accounts will be linked, the damage hsa already been done. And changing them at this point could be counterproductive. Hopefully, more experienced Amazon users might weigh in.

I am not a newbie by any means, I have roughly 10 accounts at any given time, but I know most of what I know from the people here.

What are you using to access the internet? That might also explain it.

When the accounts went down I was using a 2wire wireless router with a dynamic IP. I set these accounts up when I moved on a net-gear router but from the same PC and with different accounts.

Been running strong since April, crossing my fingers.

I'm not sure WHY this worked for you, but my guess is that you will be OK. I mean, if Amazon was going to link them, they probably would have done so already.

Normally, if they detect linking as you describes, the account(s) would be shut down within HOURS. Or maybe even immediately denied.

I wish I knew what the secret was!

I have two accounts which have used the same mac address also- Linksys Cisco

A few times I forgot it was connected to this pc which is the one I use dial up on for one of my Amazon accounts. But I change the browser frequently, the display resolution twice but the last time my cookies weren't cleared when I logged in using the same IP. That was yesterday. Didn't use Safari as the browser but it grabbed the amazon cookies the Opera would not
Figure they will probably wait until I complete this order then they'll boot me, we'll see. I have Wells Fargo bank so if they approved the funds transer, it went through. Amazon can't grab it back because the Bank credits it immediatley unlike most

I called them on the phone a few hrs later after the accounts were linked (cookies were left and I used the same internet connection )because someone ordered from me and I don't ship internationally, not even to this APO address I never heard of. So I wanted this customers address instead to ship it to them. Amazon makes you ship to these miliatary addresses even if your account doesn't allow internaitonal shipping.
My new Amazon id for my next acct is going to be somehting like Tinas TreasuresShipsExclusively within the 52 States. Then there won't be as many misunderstandings

How much are you doing per month? Mine is only about $550 per month and the other which could be linked is about $300. They are both fairly new accounts so I hate to push it

I run about $12000/month through one account and about $2000 on the other. My theory is to go hard and get the review over with.

Hey I'm new to this section of the forums ^_^ and just curious how are you getting new ips for each of the 5 accounts. Because I've been using vpns mostly for all my accounts and was wondering if theres an easier more cost effective method to run 5 ips

I dont switch between accounts that often, only when I need to or I am letting one cool down. I have At&t wireless modem. Unplug, replug, new IP.

Comcast did not offer a dynamic IP so I switched to one that did.

TIP: ELITE PROXIES...almost impossible to find anything in Google, but the cheapest is setting up your OWN SERVER for your IP addresses, they cost around 1 dollar PER MONTH EACH.

Interesting idea - so you can get your own fresh IPs like this? Sorry - I am tech unsavvy but I would plunk down some cash to have my own server. Care to PM =)
