eBay is the kiddie pool. Amazon is the shark tank.

Amazon IMHO is better than Ebay, bigger margins if you think outside the box

I agree so far i have better profit margin on amazon compared to ebay,
Since i started doing amazon few months back, never sold on ebay since,
Guess it could just be the product i am selling fits amazon better,
I even got bad feedback removed off amazon,
Lets see you try and do that on the other one,

Not eveyone is suited to sell on Amazon.
Amazon, in some ways, can be much tougher on sellers. For instance, Amazon will NOT tolerate any unprofessional behavior whatsoever from their sellers. They are all about the customer experience.
Also, if eBay suspects you are selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗, you will get a warning. With Amazon, your account will be immediately closed.
On eBay, you can specify "no refunds" - on Amazon you MUST give refunds.
Having said that, if you have the right products and a good attitude, you CAN do very well on Amazon. However, if you are one of those people who refuses to take any responsibility for themselves, argues with customers and thinks that everything that happens is always SOMEONE ELSE'S fault, then you should probably stay away from Amazon, because you WON'T LAST.

I have never sold 'on the river' but I am seriously looking at it.
My EB accounts are all very very deep ste alth and, as I don't sell VERO or foo-foo I feel quite comfortable and secure with them.
Before I go on the river I will find out as much as I can and I will go as deep ste alth as I can when I start.
My question is should I buy one or both of the guides and if one - which one? . |

Meh - if you can deal with random suspensions and failed appeals then Am az on is for you!
Easier to set up than eb ay - harder to last though if you are selling risky items.

I always check this, then I sell wherever it makes the most sense. Most items on Amazon have a sales ranking. That will tell you if the item is selling or not. You might be the lowest price on Amazon, but it won't matter if the items does not sell.

Personally I can sell anything on Amazon for more than Ebay. You don't need to be the lowest price, you can be the highest and still sell. Look up something on Amazon and then try to figure out how people are selling items for 2, 3, 4 times the lowest price

Make sure to check shipping prices, often Amazon Prices are set VERY HIGH so as to compensate for the shipping loss as shipping is not set high enough to cover actual shipping charges. A few exceptions are generally media mail or you are sending an item weighing 1lb or less.
I started out as a regular seller, then upgraded to Pro Merchant. Big Mistake
I cannot set shipping prices.
Next time I would sign up as Pro Merchant from the start
Amazons shipping choices regarding first class and media mail were all screwed up last week, they took away tracking spiradically for a few days, then went back to normal. Now it looks like new software, can hide shipping and a few other choices that weren't available last week. Except now we have to measure our boxes now, bummer
Overall seems they've gotten back to normal

If you are a pro merchant, you can help the shipping charges to be more accurate by fudging on the weight, that's what i do. Add a few pounds
