vcc's potential problem with monthly fees

Just created a new ghost Amazon account, using a virtual credit card (vcc).
All seems OK, but on my old account Amazon actually charged my credit card the monthly fee, instead of deducting it from sales.
I'm worried this is the new norm.
If this happens on this account, it'll fail obviously because the card has no credit on it.
Anyone know anything?
