- Amazon X
( https://www.aspkin.com/forums/amazon-x/)
2nd hand computer used for Amazon Setting up a Ghost accont for the fist time, obtained a 2nd hand XP computer.
It seems to have been used for Amazon at some point, but I doubt the user ever got banned, or even ever had a seller account.
Any reason why I shouldnt just set up VM, and skip cleaning my system? |

did you even read the book or search the forums? since im in an ok mood ill help you out.
step 1- read the book again
step 2- new user account on comp
step 3- new ip
dont use the new user account for anything other than the amazon account you created with said account. |
The Ghost guide says you can skip cleaning the system, if the computer hasn't been used for Amazon.
I think this means if its been used by a suspended user.
I just want confirmation of that. |
| seanws30 | 01-07-2012 10:25 AM | you dont need to clean anything if you create a new user account. |

| gcrusader92 | 01-07-2012 11:29 PM | I still like to use VMWARE because I do more than one thing on my computer and dont want to switch users. |
The Ghost guide says different user accounts isnt enough. Amazon track your computer MAC code. Thats why you need VM if you want more than one Amazon account. |

I've been using the same computer to log into all my Amazon accounts since 2008. I have six accounts running now but also have had 5 accounts suspended in past using same computer. Have never used VMWare.
I use now use six different user accounts along with six different browsers logging into Amazon using simple dial-up. You must be referring to router MAC address as I have never heard Amazon tracking your computer MAC, if there is such a thing. |
| EbanYtsa | 01-08-2012 03:19 PM | thats a pretty good idea for Myth Busters . Does amzon track your MAC?'')) |
Well this is the aspkin site, and the aspkin Amazon Ghost guide says Amazon track your MAC code(s) |
| sleepybubba | 01-09-2012 10:54 AM | I've been following up the Amaz0n Ghost's advice regarding router MAC address, but from technical standpoint (and I am in IT by day) it's impossible for any site to track any MAC hidden behind the router unless Amazon uses flash or any other client software configured as such. Amazon indeed makes a use of so-called "flash cookies", which reside in Macromedia temporary directory and tag the PC between logins.
As a disclaimer, I've been using a brand new PC (as far as Amaz0n is concerned) and brand new router (my old one got bad) to create my ghost.
So... in a nutshell, if you want to continue using that second hand PC at the very minimum you should:
1) Create a brand new account on that PC
2) Install a different brand browser (if you have IE, use FireFox or vice versa); Chrome has some known limiation with Amaz0n, so use at your own risk
3) Install a new PCI Gigabit network card (to satisfy a new PC MAC requirement - optional).
4) If you use Install FireFox, download the BetterPrivacy extension (Firefox orange button -> Add-ons; search for BetterPrivacy). Once downloaded, configure to erase flash cookies on browser exit.
5) Try reconfiguring a printer and add or remove a few system fonts.
6) Definitely do not log in to Amaz0n using any other accounts. |
Solid advice sleepybubba. |

They DO |

They DO use a script or software to track MAC addresses. Your PC does not have a MAC address, which is a unique identifier used for network adapters and radios. And no, you don't need to change anything about your printer. Amazon can not see that. |
Thanks sleepybubba for such definitive advice.
The way I have things set up, I get my Amazon emails downloaded to a different computer that has been used with a blocked account.
I always send any replies via Amazon website messages, but I imagine there is a risk that if images are not disabled on my email client, Amazon could ID me through that? |

To see what bits of browser fingerprint info are publically available to the website, click here.
As far as tracking, Amazon most certainly uses so-called "flash cookies". You can actually see them in the BetterPrivacy plugin options in FireFox or directly go to C:\Users\<your windows account>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia directory (Windows 7)
Nags, whatever you do - don't use Outlook for your email, or if you do - make sure to configure it for a single account only. Otherwise you are risking a simple human error - sending an email from a different address (I did this couple of times in the past on one of my blocked accounts). |
| kris3841 | 01-11-2012 08:34 PM | I suggest using a different browser for each account as well.
I have several laptops running multiple accounts and I do
everything wirelessly. If you do it wirelessly I have a feeling
they can't read the MAC addy and link the accounts. At least
it hasn't happened yet (fingers crossed). |
The wireless protects your IP address, providing you disconnect / reconnect each time you log in to a different account.
To hide your MAC addresses, disable your other Network Connections. |
I did some testing I created a new amazon ghost on a separate computer was going
good then it went into review and suspended I used my iphone as the internet source I
had the wifi disabled
Then I created a new amazon ghost account created on the iphone using the browser
listed a book hours later it sold then 2 hours later I got the linked to a suspended
account
:noidea: |
| BiN4RY | 01-12-2012 10:00 PM | Guys this is Amazon, there are other things that needs to be worrying than just IP and user account. Please stop giving him false information.
Like I said, I recommend some sort of VM instead for each account. |
