I've been following up the Amaz0n Ghost's advice regarding router MAC address, but from technical standpoint (and I am in IT by day) it's impossible for any site to track any MAC hidden behind the router unless Amazon uses flash or any other client software configured as such. Amazon indeed makes a use of so-called "flash cookies", which reside in Macromedia temporary directory and tag the PC between logins.
As a disclaimer, I've been using a brand new PC (as far as Amaz0n is concerned) and brand new router (my old one got bad) to create my ghost.
So... in a nutshell, if you want to continue using that second hand PC at the very minimum you should:
1) Create a brand new account on that PC
2) Install a different brand browser (if you have IE, use FireFox or vice versa); Chrome has some known limiation with Amaz0n, so use at your own risk
3) Install a new PCI Gigabit network card (to satisfy a new PC MAC requirement - optional).
4) If you use Install FireFox, download the BetterPrivacy extension (Firefox orange button -> Add-ons; search for BetterPrivacy). Once downloaded, configure to erase flash cookies on browser exit.
5) Try reconfiguring a printer and add or remove a few system fonts.
6) Definitely do not log in to Amaz0n using any other accounts.
