Yeah just the same question, guess I was too tired last night and missed the thread you started
It was always my understanding from what I have read that they cam only see the last connecting device which would be the routers IP and MAC address. However after reading Amazon Ghost over again as a refresher I realized I had forgotten that he talks about changing the COMPUTERS MAC address itself.
This had me a bit worried as I have not been doing this and do have a number of ghost accounts going already (no take downs yet fortunately)....
However with a good nights rest and a fresh mind this morning I did some more research and thought..... DUH! Why not just ask VMWare..... so thats what I did!
You can check out the answer I found on their website here.
According to this write up, each virtual machine has its own unique MAC address!!!! YAY!! And this unique MAC address will never change unless the location of the virtual machine is moved to another location on the host computer.
So.... it seems that we have been doing everything just fine (if my understanding of this write up is correct) However I think I will begin tracking what MAC addresses get assigned to each VM as this does not take a lot of work and would be tragic if it re-used a MAC address somewhere along the line.... cheap and easy insurance!
PS - I saw you say in your original write up that your using a VPN...... personally it seems to me it would be best to stay away from that and get yourself a dynamic IP address..... seems people using VPNs get shut down eventually and fairly quickly.
