Read around.. On a VPN, you will still need to clean the previously banned pc and spoof the MAC address AT A MINIMUM - there is probably going to be more to it, depending on your situation.
On a VPS, you don't have those issues, but Amazon is aware of a lot of VPS (and VPN for that matter) providers. If they detect you are on a VPS, it is an instant ban and probably the loss of any funds you have in your account at the time.
If you want to go with a VPS, forget about anything on the first few pages of Google and also the $5 and $10 wonders. You want a provider that is small and unknown to Amazon and at least at the $20 per month range. Why? Look at LowEndBox.com - they list VPS's that cost very little. Click on some links - those $5 ones are prone to going out of business. And Amazon knows about most of them.
