New Tracking Methods (of the Future)?
I suggest installing the extension that brought some new info to my attention. Get it from hotcleaner.com or just look in Chrome/Firefox's popular extensions. It checks to see how "secure" you are in a few ways. The one I'm talking about right now is how anyone can see if you're logged into Google (gmail), facebook, or twitter.
Quote from Hotcleaner's Click&Clean App:
"Are you logged in? What does this mean? This implies that any website can obtain quite a lot of information about you. If you see your profile picture above, then it doesn't take a magician's trick to determine your public profile and learn more about your interests - for example, by using Search by Image service. ('yes I did see my profile picture above' meaning that it could easily be matched across accounts if I log into my Amazon while logged into my gmail.. if Amazon ever chose to..')
Therefore, we do not recommend you to surf on questionable websites while you are logged in to an account. Do not go to any other websites while banking on the internet! Keep in mind, it is not safe to browse the Internet while you remain logged in."
If you are paranoid as hell, like me. I would suggest not logging into facebook, google, or twitter. And as usual, do not browse the same websites you normally do.
