dial up connection
Ok, I have been reading for weeks. I have read the stealth guide and have spent many hours on this forum. Thank you everyone for your work so far. I believe I understand 99% of every thing but I just want to be 100% sure before I move forward.
My current computer connection is high speed cable with Verizon but they have given me a router/modem combination piece of equipment. without going into to much detail I am not going to be switching this out.
So my thoughts were to get a dial up connection in the house with netzero. I received the installation disk in the mail today and it seems that the company wants you to use the install disk instead and a built in modem within your computer. I do not think that there system is the answer as you have to use there login interface to access the internet and for that reason I do not think this system will work for me either. Can someone please confirm?
I have called Netzero and told them I do Not have a computer with a built in modem and I will not be able to use their service unless they send a regular modem. I just hope they send just a modem and not a modem/router.
Here is a few questions:
- How would I be able to tell if what they send me is just a modem? ( I am pretty sure if they send me a modem with a built in wifi then it is a rounter/modem and this would not work.
- would I have to use netzero's software to establish a internet connection? (I think that would get me linked if I did and I am not sure if I could work around this).
If you respond please keep it about the two questions about and not what ISP (dial up/cable/dougle/ect),
Thank you in advance for everything
