Re: MAC address

Here is my 2 cents from a lot of experience:
I keep my ratio about 5:1 and haven't had any problems. ALWAYS use a new browser. If you are using the same computer and want to use say Firefox again, create a new windows User. I'm not sure if you can just run CCleaner and use the same exact browser again but I probably wouldn't chance it. Create a new user account just to be extra safe. I have used the same IP for 4 different accounts (2 banned, 2 not) with no problems. But all accounts were on SEPARATE computers using a wireless router (the same router). So take from that what you will, my guess is if you fail one check you might be ok, but two checks you are banned.

Read about VmWare - can be used with the tools to change your system ID to Amazon

You do not need a new router and you certainly dont need a new laptop.

Please refrain from telling people to go out and buy these things when you dont seem to know what you are talking about as it can be rather damaging.

A new user account and a different web browser is more than enough.

from the experiences of 5 of accounts closed down. changing user name and browser are not enough. amazon linked in mins.
i read amazon ghost very closely and i think i didn't misunderstand.
the only dispute people talking about is mac address, my answer is "not a problem" by testing 2 accounts ( new mac is far better if you know how to do it).
laptop is so cheap in these days, you can easily earn more than one laptop in a week. why wouldn't you buy a new lap to make sure everything is safe rather than risk your account if you know nothing about pc ?
only my opinion.

OK. Sorry if I was a bit harsh but I find it rather annoying when people suggest you just buy a new laptop. There are two reasons

When things are going ok a new laptop is not a big deal. But people come to this forum when amazon have banned them and when that happens they keep your money for 3 months or more. People are often desperate and suggesting a new laptop to someone in that position is just bad advice.

The reason it is bad is because there is absolutely no need to get one. I have done a lot of research and Im 99% certain amazon dont even use this technology, but if they do all you need to do is have a new user account AND USE A DIFFERENT BROWSER. That makes it completely unique. There is no way the two could be linked using browser fingerprinting.

Im not sure why you got banned but there is no way you could possibly tell it was because of browser fingerprinting. And if you used a different user account for each one it was more than likely down to something else.

My guess is that you listed the same products on each account as you have already mentioned you do not think the same stock is an issue. It is and it is a much bigger issue than browser fingerprinting.

Now if that is the case you have based your advice on a guess at best and you are advising a stranger that they go out and buy a new laptop and router. Add the fact that this thread will be seen by hundreds of others who may also feel that they need a new laptop and router and that one bit of advice can be very damaging.

Re: MAC address

ipv6 ip contains mac, ipv4 doesnt

barrycruan 10-07-2013 09:25 PM

Re: MAC address

that is a good point and Im sure MAC tracking will at some stage be used by amazon.

ipv6 can contain the mac address for your computer, not the router. At the moment Id still say amazon dont track your mac address but with ipv6 more than likely to to catch up with ipv4 it is certainly something to keep an eye on in the coming months/years. if you want to know which one you are ipv6-test.com

as you said may be lots of people will see the thread. what i suggest is the safest way.
i still disagree what you mentioned that only change browser and user account should be fine. amazon can go deep than that.

But that is ridiculous.

For browser fingerprinting to work you have to use the same browser. there is absolutely no way around that for amazon.

The way you suggest (a new laptop) is just as safe as using a different user and a different browser and anyone who knows the very basics of browser fingerprinting would know that.

Unfortunately you dont seem to understand what browser fingerprinting is. Please tell me how amazon " go deeper than that"??

OK, I agree different browser will yield different fingerprint. But there are only so many different browsers to choose from. What can one do to change up the same browsers?

Re: MAC address

You can get 8 different browsers easy.

Please elaborate

Is this for use on PC or phone ?

If you run many instances of it, Do you alter the browser fingerprint by using different versions?

Good question - I would figure yes.

Oh, I'm talking about for PC :)

I really not pay much attention on the browser fingerprint.

I used all different version of FF portable and my PC not install any adobe or flash software.

Re: MAC address

Just to clarify i was talking about what you should do if you are concerned about fingerprinting. AI am pretty confident theuy dont so I just use a different account with firefox every time and have had no problems.

However any change in your browser (such as which version) will give you a completely new and unique browser. That is pretty much why I dont think it would be worth amazon implementing, that and the fact I would have been linked by now

Is a cell phone assigned a Mac address when using 4g signal? My question is concerning tethering.... I understand Amazon can see the first 2 devices... So if JM tethering on my laptop using my cell phones connection, which devices will amazon see? I cannot find anything relating to a Mac address while on 4g...... Looks as though it only obtains a Mac if I turn on WiFi?

Re: MAC address

I would be interested in throwing one more thing into this mix. Can anyone share their experiences with Amazon and tax ID numbers? I was able to get a new tax ID number, but I'm wondering if Amazon can trace that back to me too (I registered the number under the name of a business rather than my own name). I'd love to hear from the many experienced selers here who have dealt with this before.

[QUOTE=helpmelol;491371]Yeah, this is the list:

- New IP address
- New address
- New name
- New bank account
- New (virtual) credit card
- New phone number (for verification)
- New user account
- New inventory, or similar but only 1 out of 5 or 1 out of 10 items can be the same as previously used inventory

Re: MAC address

I setup a tax ID a few weeks ago.

When I went to associate with my Amazon account, there was a checkbox to select if the EIN is less than 60 days old. I did not check this and it would not accept it. Once I did check it, it did accept it.

They must be doing some form of checking...

Easiest is to setup an LLC and associate your EIN with the LLC

thank you for this advice. I have spend over $400 because people said that I should buy /register for new things, and it seems it was all pointless... Don''t know if they are just trolling me/us and trying to make us spend money for nothing.
