EIN # issue

I got this today "tax identity information provided for your seller account does not exactly match IRS records". I give Amazon my EIN # associated with a DBA name. The EIN was registered recently (about a month). Could the time being too short be the problem? Amazon is threatening account suspension if I didn't respond in 30 days.

Re: EIN # issue

that could be the issue, did you make sure the name matches 100% as you provided it to the irs? you cannot have any variations or not put stuff that you gave the irs

I searched the topic, but didn't find one with exactly the same situation. Care for a link?

Re: EIN # issue

Basically, whatever you input as the "legal name" must exactly match what the IRS has on file. Usually, for an SSN this would be the name as it shows on your social security card. For an EIN, it would be the name of the business that you gave to the IRS when you applied for the EIN. The IRS should have given you a PDF (or sent a notice via snail mail) confirming your EIN. The name will be on that notice.

Keep in mind that Bob J Smith is NOT the same as Robert James Smith,
Also, IBM, INC. is NOT the same as International Business Machines, INC.

If the names do not match EXACTLY, Amazon will simply receive a "no match" response from the IRS and will NOT have any other information. The IRS will not give them anything other than a match, or a no match.

Will the Address have to be match also or not?

Thanks

The IRS does not verify addresses. Addresses can and do change and the IRS may not have that information until you pay and/or file your taxes. So, they are depending on an exact name match.

They match company name and ein only.

It does take time to get into the system. There is a box you can check mark that says you have received your EIN/TIN witin the last 60 days.

THis is similar to the EIN question some of you are asking.
I'm applying for a LLC with a EIN. I was wondering if I will be linked if I use
the business card with the LLC name on it? I figure I would do to my real name and address being on the credit card.

This is my first time on the forum so I wanted to post another quick question.
I have been having an issue with my mac address changing on me using the same numbers in my router. Will this flag Amazon to shut me down? If so how do I go about this not happening? I know for Ebay it's not a big deal.

Thank you and hope to hear from you.

Nope. Credit card verification does NOT include the account holder name. They only verify the DIGITS in your address and the ZIP Code. What is in blue, below, is what they verify:

James Smith
123 Main St
Anytown, MI 98765

Why use your business credit card? Just use a $25 Vanilla Visa Gift Card. Register the Zip Code and say the card holder name is your business name.
