Listings that just get deactivated but still show up as inventory...what's going on?
OK, another "Has this happened to anyone else?" question.
I have hundreds of listings in an area that has some VERO sensitivity but thankfully doesn't get too much attention (maybe 1-2 hits a year, only the most overzealous of actual VEROs).
OTOH, I've noticed a case or two where 5 or 6 listings that might fall under the same VERO just get deactivated, i.e. they still show in inventory, but there's no price data and if you try to go to the listing on Amazon you get an error page. They're obviously not showing on the Amazon site or generating sales.
I've found no flags about listing quality (like a missing photo) that would explain it, and there are no e-mails about anything being removed, warnings or dings on the account over authenticity or anything like that.
I can't help but suspect it's related to user reports (competitors?) thinking they know about all that or just causing trouble, but is this the kind of thing the customer service flunkies do in reponse to user reports that aren't confirmed by actual VEROs? Or is it some other kind of bug?
For this Christmas season I had to re-create about 10 new listings of items that had been deactivated in this manner but with no notice or anything.
