| forbizus | 08-14-2017 02:13 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I tried to disable 2 step veri. but after that amz stared to requiring me again, same as first time when its came up so I did it again to not cause problem to my 2nd acc.
What I'm using now is the Hushed app, I paid $30 for 1# unlimited text and calls for 365 days, and then I paid $10 for 2nd number that will expire in 90 days but I can extend it to 365 days as well. |

| ebaysuck | 10-11-2017 09:54 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Can someone please clarify if we should be worried? I stared seeing these messages like once a day on all Amazon accounts when log in "On October 31, all accounts must be protected by Two-Step Verification. Add this security feature to your account today to ensure uninterrupted access" |
| DuSpast | 10-11-2017 10:26 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Yes I did get the same :( |
| dachilla | 10-11-2017 11:24 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification So what's the hassle? Google Auth App should be the way to go. Don't really understand why you guys are worried about this. |
| ebaysuck | 10-11-2017 11:45 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification So is this thing a must to log in after October 31 ? |
| dachilla | 10-11-2017 12:02 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I didn't get the message yet |

Your best / most convenient options are using google voice for the phone # or Authenticator App.
Just make sure to never lose either of them. |
| chris100 | 10-11-2017 08:43 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification This is a bit of a nuisance as I have a holiday coming up and won't have much time to get alternative phone numbers.
I take it the Google authenticator app and Google Voice numbers are free and easy to set up?
Do I need both? Google Voice will provide a back up number? Earlier someone posted that it expires in 9 months without use?
I reset my IP address everytime I change Amazon accounts so presumably I won't have to worry about keeping the phone offline? |
| dachilla | 10-12-2017 12:37 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Can we use the same authenticator app for multiple accounts? |

I recommend having a dedicated phone with the authenticator app on it that always remains offline
If you have an older iPhone laying around, put it to use! Quote:

Another good solution is hushed, you can purchase as many VOIP #s as you need, and easily keep them active for 1 year (at a cost).
There are many different VOIP number apps you can find in the app store on your phone that will serve the same purpose.
Just remember to keep them active, just in case.
If you're using authenticator app, make absolute sure to copy down the back up/ restore code in case you ever lose your app. |

| ebaysuck | 10-16-2017 12:36 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I have people that manage accounts for me through vpses. Any tips how they can continue access accounts without bothering me each time for codes when they log in when I set up this 2 step verification ?
Thanks |

I use Google Authenticator and just figured that there is no possibility to backup. Really, wtf? So if I lose my phone, take it in the pool or spill beer over it, my amazon accounts r gone? |

In case you drop your phone in a pint of beer etc
All authenticator apps have a way for you to get a backup code for this reason |

| kris3841 | 10-20-2017 12:13 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Ok, just logged into one of my accounts tonight. It is showing an October 31st DEADLINE or account will be on hold until I provide the 2-step. Quick question, I have numerous accounts (all phones deactivated)... so what would be my CHEAPEST alternative to keep all accounts (like 10 of them) up and running with the least amount of maintenance, etc? I'm already thinking 10 phones x $20 = $200 (yikes). Or maybe 5 phones (2 numbers per phone with google voice)... but then keep them active requires $$$ too. Any information/tips would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for the original post Elmo! |

| GreatDay | 10-31-2017 10:53 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification yesterday i did 2 step verification on Amazon. It said deadline was Oct. 31st. I had a old prepaid phone that i activated in the past for the account. It is no longer activated, but i hooked it up to my secure wifi and downloaded the app. I then put it in airplane mode, took a photo of the barcode and it gave me a code and i entered it. Then as a backup, I went to google voice and got a new number. I used a phone number with google voice that is linked to a blocked account. I gave the 2 step verification my new Google voice number and they called with a code. I entered it. I woke up this morning and it had me enter a code again...so I picked up the app and it had a code changing every few seconds so I typed that in. I got an error message like my code was wrong? or something? I still got into my account. I then went to settings to disable needing to do that. I have logged in several times today to make sure everything is on and it seems to be. Why do i feel like I didn't do something right? Like I am missing something?
I still have one more account to verify. But i am not seeing the notification on the account like I have the last few weeks...did amazon again decided not to follow through with deadline? People say I can use the App to verify on multiple accounts, but I dont see how....even off line....it gives me code and then has amazon with my email.....will that change when I take a new photo of a new barcode? Does my question even make sense? I am not sure how this code app works, and do not want to try it on my other account just yet....can anyone help? |
| e2free | 10-31-2017 05:17 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification You need to tick the box that on this pc/laptop code not require, otherwise each time you login they will send you new code |
| txunade | 11-03-2017 05:17 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification They blocked me out, unless I do 2 steps verification. so this is real sh**t :) |

| Canadianleaf | 11-03-2017 08:36 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Im hyper paranoid about the authenticator app and any potential screw up / linkage. Instead I just used my grand parents cell phone numbers. They live in an old folks home and dont use Amazon. |
| txunade | 11-03-2017 10:09 PM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification this will be difficult, since you still receive notification item sold, but cant log into your seller account. |

Yes I use google voice. You can get 2 google voice #s for every phone # you verify through google voice. So I take 1 prepaid phone number, make and make 2 google voices with that prepaid number, for a total of 3 usable numbers. |
Hello Elmo. I think you can use google voice for Paypal but eBay require the real number. I am not sure if Amazon is okay with Google voice. |

Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification Use a phone number and then add it to your Authenticator app. That way you’ll always login with the Authenticator code and not the pin |
| bartalion | 10-05-2018 06:22 AM | Re: Amazon "New" Two-Step-Verification I deleted cookies by accident from my firefox browser . Now I am being asked for phone verification to sign in. My phone number is long time dead.
Is there a way to restore the cookies or update phone number with amazon ?
What are my options ?
