If one makes a request to close a seller account to seller performance would this decrease the chance or any sort of linkage?
For example, If I have a seller account that I know will be getting suspended in the coming weeks and instead of waiting I go ahead and request the account is cancelled, would this be in my favour instead of waiting for SP to inevitably suspend the account?

What he's saying is that he fears it may get suspended. He is thinking to close the account before it goes down, in case it is linked to another account. That way it won't take down any other accounts.

If the accounts are LINKED, they'd already be gone.
There's no point to killing the account early. IF they had linked you, you'd already know. They don't start sniffing AFTER the account dies. The bots do this automatically.

Why would they already be gone? If he has 2 accounts that are linked but in good standing, why would either "already be gone"?

Amazon does not allow multiple accounts for a single user. It isn't eBay.
If you want a second account, you have to formally request from Seller Performance AND you have to have a "valid reason" for doing so. The example they give is if you have one account selling candy and another selling medications.
In short: Amazon does not allow Stealth Accounts and they do not allow second accounts.
Yeah, wasn't aware that they were different about that than eBay. That's why I'm here asking questions. But yeah, if they shut you down just for linking you with another account, then it must not be linked anyway.
If they detect a second account, they will either suspend one or both OR send an email letting you know their policy and telling you to close one down.
In my experience, it depends on the health of the account(s) in question. If it's an old account with great metrics, they usually just email you. Newer accounts or meh metrics---suspension.
Either way, if OP was linked he'd know already.
Also, you don't KNOW you'll be dead. You can appeal, especially if it's just metrics. Performance appeals are cake.
