The truth with Amazon AVS and CC's

I've read dozens and dozens of Amazon threads regarding Amazon AVS check for Amazon sellers. Many threads, even with veteran users chiming in (I wont say names) contradict each other. I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

The 3 common answers:

1) Amazon does not match billing address of the charge method.
2) Amazon only checks if the zip / postal codes match.
3) Amazon requires the street number and zip / postal code to match.

What is the correct answer? Does Amazon require the billing address on the charge method (debit / cc) to match the stealth account or not?

If the second option where only the zip / postal code needs to match this would save me a lot of time with my bank billing address for my Visa-Debit cards. This way I could make multiple stealth accounts with the same zip / postal code without changing my bank billing address.

Yes, your zip code must match your stealth address.

Are you buying or selling on amazon?

Selling. Should of mentioned that.

So only the zip code / postal code needs to match for the charge method?

If my debit / cc billing address is: 123 Banana Street, N6V 3TZ but my stealth account is 567 Stealth Blvd, N6V 3TZ then this charge method would for through without an issue? I've always had the impression the address must be the same.

Is that zip code associated with an account no longer active?

The zip code / postal code is just a hypothetical. I want to know which exact information needs to match from the Amazon stealth seller account address and what information on the on the debit / cc.

just to chime in, I recently sent up a new legit business not under my name, new amazon acc, not under my name. CC under my name, amazon charged the card 15GBP and all was fine, this was before the FULL verification. The address of the account is Norther Ireland (UK) and the CC is Republic of Ireland.

So the CC billing address is in the Republic of Ireland. What exact billing address did you put for the charge method?

Amazon do no appear to pay as much attention to buyers unless there are patterns of misbehavior.

I believe that the confusion is that a buyer account requires full verification, while a seller account only requires a zip. I KNOW that a seller account only verifies zip

The answer for US (i.e. US cards for maintaining US accounts) is: all of the above.

The three answers that you provided apply to different types of issuers. For instance, Amex and Disocver demand zip code and street number match (Answer 3). Bank of America requires no match at all -- they accept jibberish as long as it looks like a US address (Answer 1).

Again, this is on the other side of the border. Not sure how it works in Canada.

My experience (as a buyer) - I still got the charge for the item i bought even if i mistakenly key in the invalid expiration date of credit card. Weirdo~ Seriously it happened to me.

Some debit/credit cards may not work with mismatching info for a seller charge card, but most of them do.

If you have a card from an issued bank that does not work, try a different debit/credit from a different bank.
