I mean, to they actually check for larger brands ? For example, let's say I want to sell Apple but I want to create a new ASIN. The GS1 barcodes are attached to a specified product. If I am creating the ASIN for the UPC ( I would be purchasing the UPC from a third party) and it wouldn't match the brand/category. Any way around this ?

Well I have scanned products and two listings come up for same product. So same barcode twice. And if you type it in some times more listings come up = different barcodes I imagine. Or scan and no listing and type it in and listing comes up = different barcode. So I am going to say no they do not.

Also some times barcodes can very by retailer. They do this to stop return fraud.

When adding a product, we get a warning stating" our account may be suspended" if we provide a UPC different than the product we are listing. They also state they check the GS1 database to confirm.

Amazon does not have procedures in place where they are cross-referencing your UPC's & the GS1 database. There are two scenarios that they will look into this.

1. When there are more than one UPC's listed for a product and a seller creates a case, requesting that the incorrect one is removed.

2. Brand Registry

Aside from these two things, no need to worry about GS1. It is simply not feasible for Amazon to expect their sellers to have all UPC's GS1.

Not bluffing just not current enforced. The examples I stated earlier show this. My experience with Amazon is they occashionaly will remove your listings. I just let them and sell those on another platform. I don't fight or respond to these type of things. I have heard that certain brands will count against you on a multiple strike process . But I have yet to get suspended for this.
