Just don't understand how their catching me...

I was suspended from Amazon back in January, and thought about signing up again.

I regisered an account today, with the following:

- New PC (got a new laptop since).
- Completely different IP
- Different name
- Different CC
- Different bank account

Before I even attempted to list an item, I had been suspended.

What the heck are they looking at? I used the same surname, but that was it.

Vicvelcro 08-05-2009 03:39 PM

That settles it for me. Considering all others who've reported recent complications, I'm convinced they are using psychics to vet us out.

Did you use the same address?

ovidiu 08-05-2009 06:48 PM

Maybe it's time to start registering in an adjacent state. Also, has anyone considered that Amazon probably knows when you use gift cards to register, and they likely suspend these accounts quickly?

Recherché 08-05-2009 11:33 PM

Can they differentiate betwixt a gift card and credit card? This does not all seem encouraging news as I have been suspended and just ordered a new gift card with new computer, new address, new name, etc.

They can only verify account # right? Not name on account? Once I get card I'm now for certain they will suspend my new account now.

GreenBean 08-06-2009 12:15 AM

Yep: each and every 'card' used has a unique set of numbers. All of these big players 'know' the basics of a card by looking at its numbers. There will be a story in the numbers either acceptable or unacceptable.

Here We Go Again 08-06-2009 07:22 AM

If the "gift card" you ordered is using a name you have already used then yes you will be linked again.

Each account should have ALL NEW never used information.
EVERYTHING.....

bluemoon999 08-06-2009 08:55 AM

New accounts sometimes got randomly picked manually reviewed. Like eBay. That could be the reason. Try again.

ovidiu 08-06-2009 11:38 AM

Just saying that when someone keeps trying to register in the same general area with gift cards and such, it probably makes them suspicious. Why not register a buyer's account first, buy some inconsequential items like penny books, and then register to sell. The fact that a new PC, never seen before by Amazon, is now registering to sell is probably a little suspicious.

mantisinc 08-07-2009 01:21 PM

Nope, different address. I'm completely stumped.

ovidiu 08-07-2009 02:10 PM

Like I said, take it slower with a buyer's account first. How many people just jump right into selling on Amazon without ever (to Amazon's knowledge) ever having been on their site before?

mantisinc 08-07-2009 02:40 PM

Quite a few people I'd imagine.

Recherché 08-07-2009 04:51 PM

Yep, it is so simple to start on amazon. Just one click of button Sell Yours Here and your in. That is how I started. Filled out bank info afterwards.

ovidiu 08-07-2009 06:10 PM

Maybe, but as vicvelcro has said, a lot of scammers are moving from eBay (since the purges) to Amazon, and I am sure that Amazon is a LOT more careful these days. Sure you will get on in the short run and everything looks fine, but sooner or later a bot alerts a real person to look at your account and then their "one suspicion, you're out of here" policy comes into play.

ebaykilla 08-08-2009 05:24 AM

Start over...User a separate windows id for amazon....Don't add the bank for starters...also try listing one item which is in a different category than you've ever listed before. If it dosen't work try #1...keep trying with different catergories until it does ;)
