How does Amazon treat new sellers?

New sellers on eBay get amazingly high sales for the first couple weeks and then sales tend to plummet. I don't know what this is called, but it is kind of a hidden motivational move on eBay's part.

Does Amazon have such a thing? Have you gotten high sales upon registering with Amazon? Or does Amazon have a different approach for new sellers?

AMZ's all about markup in exchange for buyer security and as such you'll have to fight for placement. Unless the niche is unsaturated you'll likely find yourself doing sponsored listings for a month or two to find best sellers.

Sponsored listings on eBay sucked and never brought me any traffic. Is that also the case with Amazon?

Raised sales by 250% in my case, but ofc that's at the cost of sponsored listing fees ie 1.6k. It did sift through inventory and rocket best sellers to the top. Worth the investment in the long run imo, but not 100% guarunteed - like ebay.

They've always been effective for us. Almost doubled sales a couple times since the same listing shows up twice almost back to back.

Sorry I can't comment on Amazon. From what I can tell by reading this forum Amazon treats new sellers with little to no trust.

I got scolded in a message by an AMZ CS rep the other day. AFTER the customer contacted them first.

By the way it was written it could have been some Indian sitting on his couch for all I know. Some dinkweasel playing internet God with your business - all from the living room.

New sellers dont get the same amount of visibility as seasoned sellers do. Seasoned sellers account definitely have more 'power' when it comes to reaching customers.

Slightly OT, but AMZs rewarding buyers $5 for scanning the tape they use on their boxes with your phone.

Covering any / all marketing avenues. Prime Day is a thing now where you can pick which day you want UPS to come - for people buying too much there, ha.

Registering as brand would probably get you more flexibility with their policies. Just a hunch. When it comes to policy they dont fk around.

Re: How does Amazon treat new sellers?

Not totally sure, it could be they picked up on the fact people love stealing AMZ boxes. Since they're obviously getting noticed and picked out maybe they're doing something similar with the data.

My other speculation was it's some way to trick buyers into sending photos of unopened packages before they can claim item not recieved cases - lol.

It's apparently really bad for some sellers with 20+ yrs in ecommerce and they're getting slammed with inauthenticity claims. And only on AMZ. But I'm noticing more customers are making these claims on Ebay as well.

I think they're cashing in on a really cheap marketing avenue, though. Much cheaper than tv ads or billboards.

If they started telling customers 1ft of AMZ tape was redeemable for $5 postage at UPS it'd be as good as cash

Sears? Umm how are your sales there? I don't personally know anyone who has ever shopped there.

Their catalog was popular, reasonable in price and the customer was treated well....

But that was last century.
