How do you know that? Found it out via trial and testing? Specifically for German VAT, you can only check for the validity of a VAT number online, you can not get any more data than that. Might be possible, that Amazon can verify company info through special paid for databases. So would be really interesting how you found that out.

This seems interesting, but what exactly does a non public VAT number mean? It seems that all VAT numbers can be searched on the database and if not the full company details, a company name is always displayed. Any ideas?
