Amazon Buyer Constantly Saying Items Haven't Been Received

Hey Guys,

I have a customer on Amazon who is constantly buying items and then months later saying they haven't arrived. They then open a claim with Amazon and they refund them and count it across my metrics. I use Amazon shipping and tracking shows the items are always delivered with GPS confirmation. Amazon can see this, but as we know they don't care. Sometimes they remove the claim against the defect rate sometimes they don't. This is where Amazon is flawed. If it was Ebay I could block the buyer, and ebay give you time to respond to a claim. I have reported the buyer to Amazon Support but they don't care. Clearly this is a scammer.

I don't think there's anything I can do because whatever I do will be counted against my metrics. If I cancel their order that will be, and if I send it they will say they haven't received it and claim.

Anyone found a way to deal with this?

Write to him (enclose picture of his house from Google street map) and tell him you will write to every neighbour in his street exposing him for his fraud. If he bought something embarrassing (butt plugs) you could drop that in also.
Send a sample letter of what his neighbours will receive.

If you can find a pic of him on social media that would also be good.

Amazing idea.

Terrible idea.

Pretty certain OP is too professional to consider such a stunt because if the buyer (or neighbours) reported them to Amazon they'd stand a (good) chance of being suspended.

It's Amazon, the system is what the system is. Whilst unlikely, maybe the courier would be interested to know there's a scammer on their rounds.

Whilst it potentially carries the same degree of risk as direct mail, maybe message them and tell them you are left with no choice but to report them to Actionfraud and initiate legal action to recover your losses. Maybe don't tell them and just do it anyway.

That said, am I right in thinking even these two options could backfire if the buyer reported you to Amazon? I'm sure I've seen it written that someone who did the latter was rumbled by Amazon and they suspended them.

As far as Amazon are concerned I can't think of anything you can do differently to either block them or ensure claims are treated as they should be. You would like to think that eventually even their AI bots would spot a pattern and block this buyer.

I bet Amazon wouldn't be as flippant if it was FBA, is that an option?

Amazon would need proof before suspension. They rely on their message system for that.
Otherwise people would be taking out competitors easily.

I'd be more worried it was some simpleton who would run to police claiming harassment. Most normal people would be worried about their scam being exposed before doing that though.

This is how EBay and Amazon Works . I accepted it years ago!

Every month I loose up to 5 items ( fully tracked with proof of delivery) 4 out of 5 times ebay just gives refund to buyers and sometimes very rarely they refund buyer at their expense ( which is very dodgy , this clearly confirms ebay knows the seller is scammed by buyer)

may be UK is different,if tracking shows delivered, the buyer needs to take this up with the carrier not ebay or seller in USA?
OR HAS IT Changed?

"Dear Amazon, please find attached a copy of a letter sent to me, without my consent, by one of your sellers"

That could do the trick.

Like I said, I doubt very much OP will do that do that anyway because it is grounds for suspension and surely wouldn't take the risk.

If we assume he is doing it to multiple sellers...how can he (or Amazon) identify who sent the letter? I'd be surprised if he was only ripping off one particular seller.

Do you see now why AMZN wants to phase out small sellers, the cost of servicing small accounts is just not worth its time ?

Not in the UK. Amazon will just refund and count it against your metrics.

It's been like this for a while. For me no other marketplace comes close for the traffic, especially at Christmas. You just have to put up with the sh*t they through at you.

in such a case you have to bite the dust and mark the item as shipped without sending out , once they see you do not send out they will likely stop buying from you , they will just find someone else

you either wait for a dispute to send a refund or you send a refund before they file a dispute

Freakzilla 10-08-2024 05:30 PM

Re: Amazon Buyer Constantly Saying Items Haven't Been Received

You don't get that option on Amazon. As soon as they open a dispute Amazon refund and it effects your metrics.

Yeaaa that's the trouble with FBM.

I don't think you can do anything about it unless you wanna call amazon until yo uget someone who may do something about this little thief.

So why not FBA?

such buyers always have negative effects on metrics so refunds have to be done quickly regardless

I had buyers who were accumulating purchases over several months and later they started sending mass return requests , likely hoping they will get refunds and do not have to send returns

You don't get a choice, once the claim is made Amazon refunds.
