Facial recognition Just got the business doc request on a Canadian account. Guessing it will be similar to Inform in the US.
My concern is if they ask for ID. Used my passport for the separate US acct.
Was thinking of using health card if needed, or DL (banned address from 12 years ago) if necessary.
Question is, will they do facial recognition off of the ID to see if there are any other accounts under my "face"
Thinking no, because of the identical twins rule, but this is AZ.
Thanks

PhD | Not sure either - only time will tell... |
| Papyrusman | 04-10-2025 04:12 PM | Re: Facial recognition I haven't heard that they have started this practice. But knowing AMZ, if they can do something to not have a human involved, they probably have done it. |

Thanks for the chuckle agent  - aiming to derail :) | Retirement is still, kinda, on track. Just trying to sell the rest of our stuff off as well as building a bit of a safety net.
Bad news is we got double trumped. Lost 300K from our retirement fund through this craziness.
Plus 2/3 of our business was always in the US. Shipped myself into the states. 90% of those products are made in China. Can't afford to pay an extra 145%.
So our safety net is pretty thin right now, and retirement plans are being toned down a bit. Just hoping to hang tough for another year or so and have the markets recoup.

Re: Facial recognition Thanks for all the responses.
The Canada Identity Verification is way different than Inform in US.
Even need to submit a document to outline the structure of the company, similar to a flowchart with all names of people involved.
An absurd waste of space and time since this account is over 12 years old (not bad more a stealth acct).

But there is no tariff war between Canada and China, can you still place order from China and take them across the border to AMZN US warehouse? |

I have checked with our broker, and yes, China tariffs would apply. If they didn't, China would ship into Vancouver, then ship into US without tariffs.
Still waiting to see if this changes and we can get our last orders into the US before moving to retirement. |

What hurts most is that we were going to go out on our terms.
It's all fun and games, until it's not!

Recently someone tried to bring eggs from Mexico and the US customs said NO?
Gold is up $84 now and Bitcoin $82,some said gold can easily go to $4000 and eventually $6000.
Central banks are ditching US treasuries and buy gold ! |

Our investments will need to stay where they are now. They do average 9% a year, and the window for moving them is now closed. It will come back though, it always does. But we have never faced this much uncertainty around the world since 1939.
Just playing a waiting game right now. We could just continue the selloff and fade away, or if China goods (at least toys) get a tariff drop, we can continue with our "safety net" before riding into the sunset.
But I will make the decision before the end of May. We are still in good shape. Just not the complete freedom in retirement yet that I had in place 10 weeks ago.
Thanks

Have not heard any thing from UPS or Fed Exp,Fed Exp is popular with Chinese sellers.
As for the stock market, gold miners are the only ones which are doing well, besides the weapon/arms manufacturers. |

All we can do is hope someone straightens what's his name out.
On the bright side, the business owes us just over 100K when we do shut everything down. With our government pensions, we should be able to stretch it out for 14-18 months.
