| superstealth | 01-26-2010 10:14 PM | This has gone too far... How the HECK is it even possible to change the title of a listing? I've heard of adding to a description, but changing the title and picture to something completely different? That kind of screws things up for sellers, like me, who have listed something, to have it change to something that isn't what the listing was originally.
A few of you guys will know what I'm talking about. Changed the title/picture to a version of the product I don't have access too, upped the price and I got 3 orders in 20 minutes for a better package/version of the item which isn't what it was before.
WTF, suspend this guy |
| ovidiu | 01-26-2010 10:19 PM | Are you talking about Pro Merchants who created their own listings and later changed them? |
| superstealth | 01-26-2010 10:29 PM | Whatever he is, he changed the TITLE
I can create a new product and put whatever I want for the title, photo, description, etc...and I can "contribute" to listings by adding to the description, but there's no way to change the title of what the product is. He obviously has it listed some other way, whether it's through a webstore or business account.
I don't even know what to say now, listing a product under the proper listing, then having somebody change it to something that costs more and includes additional things that weren't included on the original listing.........this was so deliberate it's not even funny. He (manufacturer) knows that only he has access to the additional included items and that if he raised his price so I get the buy box, then I will get a ton of orders for something I don't have..people are expecting what was in the title/picture and it's different now.
Why am I being attacked |
| ovidiu | 01-26-2010 10:32 PM | Is this the same guy you were having problems with originally? |
| superstealth | 01-26-2010 10:46 PM | Yes, and 3 customers are pissed. They wanted the add-ons at my lower price. I'm a very good seller, and this guy is really ****ing me around
First he undercut my price so low that I couldn't sell...so whatever I gave up but left it listed at a price that I could still profit if I got a sale. Then today, he completely changed what the product came with, and raised his price by $7. I now because the top seller and got 3 orders in 20 minutes..
This is such a deliberate attack it's not funny. I listed a product that I have, then it was changed as a way to force me out. He should have to create a NEW listing that includes the add-on (a case)...this is opening me up to 3 more negative feedbacks and upped my cancellation rate. |
| ovidiu | 01-26-2010 11:22 PM | I assume he created the listing, which means he can go in and change his listing at will. I suggest explaining this to your customers and give them his info so they can call him and complain if they like. Make it very clear that it's not your fault, but his, and point out that it's a result of illegal harassment. Offer refunds if required to appease your buyers.
Complain to Amazon, just so you have it on record. |
| superstealth | 01-27-2010 12:02 AM | I did let customers know within 10 minutes of ordering, luckily I caught it quickly before more than 3 sold. One responded really mad and I explained about the competition, etc..I doubt they understand because they just say it's still listed on Amazon..when you have the buy box people really think they are buying from Amazon, they call them to complain about things and they have no idea about feedback..where a regular marketplace seller, people have to search them out in the other listings pages, so they have a better idea of whats going on.
After he got mad I just canceled all 3 sales so that hopefully they disappear from their orders and they can't figure out the feedback after it's canceled. I have over 600 orders this month and under 1% cancellation rate so hopefully this wont make a difference to my metrics.
I did e-mail Amazon about him changing the listing, which I don't see how that's possible when other people list on it. That's like having a listing for a Toyota, with everybody listed on it, then changing the title to Mercedes...the little guys get a ton of orders for a $15,000 Mercedes. This is exactly what he did.
Now I won't sell the item, which appears to be extremely hot. Maybe I will make my own listing but I have a very aggressive manufacturer that wants to retaliate on anybody selling their items besides them. |
| ovidiu | 01-27-2010 01:28 AM | If you create your own listing, he can't affect it, but it may be removed for being a duplicate listing. The problem here is that using the legal system to shut him up costs too much for you, and he knows it, so he's going to keep harassing you. I think the only way to get rid of this guy is to create a couple ⊗⊗⊗⊗ buyers accounts, buy from him, and leave negative feedback. |
| superstealth | 01-27-2010 01:58 AM | I could do that, but he's established and not going anywhere...and I make money on other stuff...he's got 100% of online sales tied up at whatever price he wants..I just wonder if the 3 customers today were him or not...I'm out of there what else does he want..I'm sure he will say the item is damaged and want to return it and get my address...I'll probably just end up refunding him 100% without responding and be out the $16 + shipping + signature...and I'll still probably get negged or reported for some bs...and maybe another 3 negs on top of that from the customers |
| ovidiu | 01-27-2010 02:04 AM | How much feedback does he have? |
| superstealth | 01-27-2010 02:39 AM | 1000 per year been on 2-3 years |
| ovidiu | 01-27-2010 02:59 AM | Mail the item in a priority box or similar so it cannot get damaged. You will need to hope that the buyers are reasonable. |
| superstealth | 01-27-2010 03:49 AM | Uhh yeah already sent it out bubble wrapped and then in a bubble mailer..I wasn't going to pay 1lb Priority with a box for something that can go first class 4oz..I'm sure they will claim it's damaged..so I will refund 100%..
It really sucks because he's going to get it, get a refund, then leave a negative saying seller shipped it in an envelope and it got damaged..it's like he's out to get me personally, from an hour after I listed the item he was on me with the nasty e-mails...like what the hell dude I'm just selling something...here have your own product back, for free, and leave me alone..but I doubt it will end like that |
| nobody999 | 01-29-2010 11:19 AM | sounds like the software section, competion is stiff in that category. |
| ovidiu | 01-29-2010 01:13 PM | I sell in software but have never dealt with any competitors at all, much less nastiness like this. |
| superstealth | 01-29-2010 02:08 PM | They should get it today..hopefully it goes to his daughter or something and she just says yeah it's the real thing dad..he will want a return address but these days I'm removing it from more and more labels as the mail has been very reliable and it's better for a customer to contact you for a return than to just say they sent it using your return address..and for some things the cost of the item doesn't matter that much if they lose it or if they want a return it's cheaper for them to keep it than mail it back, especially if it's used and I don't want it anyway | | All times are GMT -5.
