Do you think Amazon and Ebay share any info on problem accounts?

Maybe this is a silly question, but do you think that there is any kind of risk company or someone/somewhere that the info from a problem account might be shared with various companies such as Amazon and Ebay?

Or do you think that Amazon and Ebay share any problem account info directly? Seems they would have reasons not to share it as well as share it, what do you guys think? Or any definite info would be even better...

Ebay and Amazon are Competitors, I cannot see them sharing ANYTHING.

On the contrary, I think that Ebay and Amazon would LOVE to send all of their questionable Sellers over to the Other.

As far as a third party Company Gathering Suspended Account information, and Selling it to them--Possible---I Never heard of any, But then again I never looked for any, I will spend so time to see if such a Company exists, and I will update this thread if I Find anything.

I agree. I doubty that either company would want to take a risk of having the number of suspended accounts being made public. The question would then be raised, "why did those users have accounts in the first place"?

Any time you send your internal data outside the company, you have a risk of it leaking out. You can have all the confidentiality agreements you want, but there is STILL a risk.

Amazon has a great reputation. They would not want to risk it.

eBay, not so much, but they still have always claimed that fraud made up a tiny fraction of one percent of all site activity. I doubt they would want to see actual numbers attached to that. Can you imagine what would happen if it was known that they suspended 5,864 (whatever the number is) accounts in June, 2010? And whats more, that they have hired an outside company to help them control it? It may be a tiny percentage of overall users, but those numbers could easily be manipulated by reporters looking for a story.

I highly doubt it, but wouldn't doubt that they both use similar methods to "trap" their sellers and kick them off.

I did read (in very fine print) on eb somewhere that AOL or America Online was a partner in security with ebay, and that those two companies were sharing some info. But I can't say I saw any revelations come of it.

And since aol is a free email service now, I would not be surprised that they would want to leverage their data, and profit on it in some way. I think aol simply confirmed names registered on account screen names with eb.

Still kind of slimely if you ask me.
