I also doubt that Amazon hsa actually CHARGED the crad. They probably put a AUTHORIZATION for the purchase price on the card. This happens to me all the time when I buy from Amazon. The charge is held in my pending payments and sometimes even falls off after a few days, then gets reinstated.
There IS a difference technically, altough you cannot use that money while the authorization hold is on the card.
That is also how my merchant account works. When an order is placed on my website, the card is authroized for the purchase price immediately. If I don't confirm shipment within 5 days, the authorization expires and the money is then available on the customer's credit card. If I confirm shipment, then the money goes to my payments account. The other option is, I can cancel the order, and then the money becomes immediately available to the customer.
