Is Amazon safer to sell on or Ebay
 

I want to eventually start selling on Amazon but it seems like it might be harder to sell on than Ebay also I don't know much about Amazon. Basically does Amazon suspend people for no reason like Ebay does or is Amazon more lenient and understanding?

i have never had a bad experience on amazon. Just dont sell vero or high risk items

Easier in the sense Amazon doesn't require additional verification on the initial creation of an account. It's gotten so bad on eBay, I can't even sell a condom!

I recently started selling 'on the river' - bear in mind I am only talking here from my own experiences - but I like it. No listing fees for a start, many more products, stuff I've had on Ebay that has been taken down is in Amazons catalogue.

They strike me as a more adult company - Ebay seem very childish in comparison.

Early days yet and sales are slow but first impressions are that I like it.

I like how easy it is to list items and modify quantities/prices on amaz. But, fees are outrageous, seller protection is nonexistent and they claim ownership of your customers forever.

what do you mean "claim ownership of customers"?

@GTran, realize also that if a customer files an A-to-Z claim whether for real or to screw the seller, you will lose your cash AND your item.

Amazon is a great marketplace for selling genuine and non risky products as they get more traffic than eBay. However, they will give you a nightmare much greater than eBay if you sell VeRO goods

Amazon Is way easier, from my experience, I don't even touch eBay.

i prefer amazon to ebay, you have to take things alot slower and it will cost you a few accounts to find your limits you can sell at and also the amount of money you can take, i surgest buy the amazon ghost, i did and it was that which perfected everything, from the things i already knew to the ones i knew nothing about.i now have many accounts up and running.

Buyers have a limit on the number of these A-Z claims they can make, though. In any case you're still not likely to have a customer pull this on you intentionally unless you're selling something high-risk or VERO as mentioned above.

I love Amazon. Their Reps are good listeners, easy to relate to so far. They've been very kind to me. Amazon seems to attract a better customer imho, less thieves. But you need to watch your P's and Q's, show class in dealing with customers as it's all about customer service. I agree with Granny that Ebay is a bit childish compared to Amazon, you really can deal with some doozies on Ebay, including those that call names, make snide remarks, many buyers show poor relational skills. Amazon is a whole different ballgame

I was under the impression that whenever you even tried to list a Vero or high-risk item, it threw an error in your face saying something like "this item is restricted to specific sellers only, please send an email to blah blah to request permission"

Very true - any buyer account can have max 3 A-to-Z claims per lifetime.

What I mean by the error is that from personal experience and just for funsies, I tried listing 1 windows 7 and it was like "WOOP WOOOP ERROR ERROR *Turrets come out and point at me* ERROR ERROR *guns loading sound*"

As a seller, I've had VERY few A-Z claims filed against me. Usually it was my fault anyway.
