Featured Merchant

Ive seen quite a few people here that say they are a featured merchant on amazon. How in the world does this come to happen?

adam34996 07-20-2011 11:04 PM

I dip in and out of being a featured merchant.

Qualifications include sales volume, feedback, length of time on Amazon, and all of your customer metric number/ ODR rate.

I never know quite when I am doing well enough to become one, it just happens.

Other members might know some sales volume requirements but thats it in a nutshell.

When I got featured merchant status in the electronics category it took about 4-5 months of selling. Thousands of orders, 700 feedback with 99% satisfaction, but all categories are different electronics are one of the harder ones.

I got featured few weeks ago.

6 months of selling. broke 25k on the account in 20 days when it got featured. I think it has little to do with feedback an a lot of do with sales volume and metrics.

Hmm very interesting. Do you get featured only on certain items or how does it work?

My sales have increased greatly. Im in the cell phone (unlocked) dept.

The whole category, if electronics then all electronics listed are featured.

Thats pretty awesome. I should have a ton of inventory here real soon and I should be able to get good numbers. I hit 10k in two weeks and I'm sure I can easily get more than that.

Thanks for the info.

Do they email you and let you know or does it just happen?

123 07-21-2011 12:28 AM

Just happens.

Gamefreak 07-21-2011 02:10 AM

Thats what I hate about amazon. You never know when you are featured or when you its taken away. Best way though is you should see an increase in sales the hour it happens.

When I got featured i got 10 orders in the like 5 minutes which is unlike the account to receive. Of course that is because the transition from non featured to featured caused my price to be way lower than the next competitor.

Do your velocity limits increase after you become featured merchant?

Gamefreak 07-21-2011 08:17 PM

By the time you are featured you shouldnt any type of limits on your account.

One of my accounts just got featured after 3+ months, like 30-40 sales with 14 positive feedback.
Are you saying that there are no limitations for me anymore? It would be very nice, but it's a little hard to believe.

How much have you been selling as featured merchant?

adam34996 08-04-2011 07:47 PM

Featured merchant has nothing to do with limitations.

If your metrics are good, sales and feedback high, they might make you one. But they will strip it from you just as fast - comes and goes for me.

It's actually a bit suprising that you would be featured so early.

One has nothing to do with the other though.

It's just that most people are not getting feature status without already having passed at least a couple of velocity limit review increases.

It really kinda depends on your category though. In something like video game media sales, you will pass many velocity limit reviews long before you are capable of selling enough volume to qualify for a featured slot

I've seen Featured Merchant with 2 feedbacks selling only a couple of items.

I've been featured Merchant for about 5 months now with 200'ish feedbacks, and just recently lost it for a short while. Now they made me again featured, I guess after I improved the "response time under 24 hours" metric.
