| dakota5369 | 08-18-2011 05:18 AM | is it worth it to fight a customer? i sold a small ticket item to a guy on June 26th. well today i got a nasty email from him saying the product was horrible. it was sealed so it isnt like i had anything to do with it so i didnt understand the hostility. he threatened to file with amazon if i didnt replace it or refund it immediately. well...
1. it is hard to turn the other cheek when people come at you with hostility from the start. but is it worth it to fight him?
2. my account is just 3 months old and i am just selling 7 or 8 things a month taking my time. so this is why i am afraid i just need to grin and bare it.
3. all my items are legit, but a couple were high risk, so i think i might just need to refund him and shut my mouth.
4. if i refund him, can he still neg me? because it is just killing me to not be an ass back.
5. how long does he have? i mean this is close to 2 months ago.
thanks in advance for the advice |
| dakota5369 | 08-18-2011 05:25 AM | also, can he leave me negative feedback if i dont accept a refund? again, i am thinking this is just going to be the cost of doing business. this is a lgit account, btw |
| GrannyT | 08-18-2011 05:26 AM | You cannot win this - no matter what you do - salvage what you can - refund him and move on
:pop2: |
| dakota5369 | 08-18-2011 05:33 AM | i figured as much. it sucks they can still complain 2 months later. at least its just a 10 dollar loss |
| dakota5369 | 08-18-2011 05:35 AM | can i at least throw in a ****ty response? or is he still going to neg me? |
Especially when it comes to Am az on, you would not stand a fight unless your account is rock solid. |
| dakota5369 | 08-18-2011 06:13 AM | i just refunded him and didnt say much back. man it kills me to bite my tongue! |
| ovidiu | 08-18-2011 03:30 PM | Well you know, they can not leave feedback after 60 days. I've literally argued with a buyer and stretched it past 60 days to save myself the possibility of negative feedback. |
| Gamefreak | 08-18-2011 04:14 PM | you should have stretched it to the 60 day mark. They really cant do anything after 60 days. No negs, chargebacks or anything really... But I guess you did what you felt was right. |
| SweetPea | 08-18-2011 08:46 PM | It is not worth the stress and possibility of getting a negative. $10 is nothing in the scheme of things. Block him from your auctions and move on. If this is a legit account, don't make enemies. :pop2: |

But I guess you did what you felt was right. | Just a correction, I have gotten a chargeback 4 months after a sale. Most of the chargebacks I have gotten over the last 10yrs are atleast after the 2 month mark.
As for the OP. let it go. You are like me and want to take a ballbat to the buyer. . But after the sale is done and over with. :fight: |
| Melissa1971 | 08-18-2011 09:58 PM | Sorry that happened.
Like the forum members said, if you can stretch it out to the 60 day mark, do it so you don't need to worry about negatives
Absolutely refund him, even if he is nasty. That's life. But of course, if it
goes so far as name calling or swearing, accusations, that's another story.
And it's good he complained about the product and not you. Most likely if he
strikes with a neg, you can get it removed for being a product review.
Hope you update us :pop2: |

Product reviews go somewhere else |
| KingRay | 08-18-2011 10:23 PM | Got it. So if a buyer negs you saying that your product was junk it can be removed? I see that every day on ebay.
Or something like "product was not as I though" Seen those too. |

Or something like "product was not as I though" Seen those too. | "Product was not as I thought" is an opinion
"Product is junk" is also an opinion but worded more as a factual product review so my guess it would be removed upon request. |
| KingRay | 08-18-2011 11:51 PM | I dont think they will remove them but I guess its worth a try. I can find feedback all day with stuff like Product worthless, Product ⊗⊗⊗⊗, I was sent junk, etc.
I think they would be removing feedback all day if that was the case. You might be right though. I just dont think so. I will check though to see what really counts. |
| nobody999 | 08-19-2011 12:28 AM | OP is referring to an item he sold on amazon, not ebay..... |

You have to request that they remove the feedback which a lot of sellers dont care or dont know about it so they do nothing.
You will see the big guys have a lot of those smaller sellers not so much as they are more likely to get it removed. |
| KingRay | 08-19-2011 02:14 PM | My fault, got the posts mixed up. Had ebay on my mind. |

Agreed there are 100's of reasons to want to fight, most being miffed with a basically dumb buyer.
But, you have to look at your overall business. Legit account, no watching over your shoulder, making a few bucks....
refund, placate the buyer, move on.
Do all of that after screaming blue murder to rid yourself of the grief :croc: |
| ovidiu | 08-19-2011 05:26 PM | Got it. So if a buyer negs you saying that your product was junk it can be removed? I see that every day on ebay.
I personally had a negative that was solely a product review removed on my stealth account, about a month ago. Seller Support was quick and professional about it.
Btw, many Amazon buyers are boneheads and leave negative feedback regardless. Be completely POLITE, never insult, but explain your position and how you sell the product, not manufacture it. Tell him the refund is a courtesy (special exception) because you want your buyers to be happy.
