how agressive is their ip tracking

so my recent suspention got me thinking

i very rarely used te same ip when logging into accounts, does anyone know or willing to hazard a guess at how many times you can have your ip linked between 2 accoutns before they an definitivly say they are the same person.

I mean even when your rebooting your router or using a VPN you will at some point be given the same ip address as has been used on one of your other accounts.

with amazon you need to watch other issues apart from IP too.

but generally speaking, and I speak from an ebay point of view, depends on your range and how many times you get a repetition, some for example you have thousands of combinations, so all the digits change, with some last 6 change, with some last 3 only, with some only one at the end changes. So with the earlier ones mentioned what is the chance that within the same month you will repeat, very low. With the last mentioned chance is v high.

Hazarding a guess, I would say repetition with in a month period could be dangerous, IP alone is not used to link though. Possibly same day IP usage then yes, but otherwise it is other similarities as well that will add to evidence, Think about it, if the IP of a banned user a week ago gets given to me I would get banned, and that does not happen.

got me into thinking and looking into this whole amazon tracking your mac address, i work in It but my networking knowledge is terrible so i did abit of diggin,

Can a MAC address be traced?

apparently your mac isnt used in the transmition after it hits the first device your connected to, therfor i doubt it is possible for them to track it via your data stream, mabea possible via active x or java script they run on your machine whilst on their site though.

if anyone has any conclusive proof on this i would be gratefull for the links or reading material.

imjustme on this forum is a tech guy and he says catagorically mac cannot be seen, as amazon is not the computer next to you. I read it all over the internet that it cannot be read, end of story.

but yet Amazon Guide features having a different mac on local area connection cos yes it has something to do with java running in background.....
