I went the other way (and I know nothing about Amazon)

I opened .co.uk and then used all the info - including e-mail, card and bank account - to open on .com.

No problem - both still running after a few months though to be honest I don't do a lot on there. Still looking for the right product

I was thinking about selling from the USA on the UK site so I can charge in pounds, but with the exchange rate and shipping the profit would be about the same? What is amazon's exchange rate?

@GTran - so you opened on both platforms right away, without sales occurring on either? Mind if I ask what card you used? Can PM if you like.
