EIN - Address Question
 

Long story short... I am using my wife's name on my amazon account, but using my mother's address as my amazon official address. This is because I don't want amazon to link me to my current address where I have a banned account.

Amazon is now asking for an EIN number. I looked at the interview questions and asked for the address information. The EIN number in my wife's name is at my current address and like I said my amazon account is at my mother's address. I plan to answer the question accurately (Linking my EIN number with my actual address) Will amazon be able to link me based on this interview or is it something that goes straight to the IRS?

I dont think anyone can see your EIN address but the address of the corp can pretty easily be found, that is the one that matters but wait to hear from others

It an EIN for a sole proprietorship. When I got to 50 sales, amazon told me that I needed to add an EIN number. I have one from the IRS. I have not added it yet because I want to make sure the address will not come back to bite me.

How would they find the address? And is this a way amazon normally limks banned accts?

Yes, Amazon links accounts this way.

No, they cannot get the address from the IRS. They can only verify that the business name matches the EIN. If a sole proprietorship, then that is usually the owner's name.

2. How would they link by my sole proprietor name to my false address without looking at the ein interview?

They are checking your db name and address. That info is pretty easy to get

I have never read that Amazon made an effort to link people that way. If this is the case then every stealth account with an EIN number can get shut down

The information is easily accessible via court public records, but I don't believe either EB or AZ go that far as of yet. Can others confirm this?

most states have an online search where you can find out this info. the way to get around it is to use an agent which basically hides your own info. i do not think ebay is using this because i had an account running for a while as a biz but was registered under my suspended name and address. you could see that info online very easily

While I agree with SlimJim that Amazon can check those records, I am willing to bet that they have enough going on that they will most likely not go to these lengths to shut down accounts.

So, can someone please answer my original question? Will Amazon to trouble of trying to link my amazon registered address with my EIN addresss? Has anyone had experience with this?

Cant say but amazon does verify the EIN info with the IRS and once they complete it and verify it it will say verify under your account. So with that said one can assume that they will check that info against theirs to see if the info matches any suspended user(s) and suspend that account in the process

Well then idk exactly what they are verifying when they verify the EIN, one would think its the EIN, address, and name no?

Yeah that is the question. I was under the impression the IRS verifies your EIN number and then sends an 'ok' back to Amazon. However, from what I have heard amazon cannot find out anything else about you from the EIN.

Ok I basically have the same question, my ex has an ein that has never been used with amazon. It is sole p so its his legal first and last name and the address is an apt that we lived in two years ago lol. But its still an active ein. I have an amazon account that is over a year old and that is asking for tax id info by sept 30th.

Should I add the ein?
