Default Can you fail a seller review simply for having low balance on your Credit Card?

I use a Visa Gift Card for my current account and it currently has $2.80 on it ... is that good enough to pass reviews?

Could I get banned & deleted simply for having under $4 on my card? (if amazon ever does a test charge they could find out how much I have)

If the test charge is more than the card balance, then amazon has rejected the account.

Offhand, look for post by jeffweico.

He clearly states the importance of having sufficient funds on the card.

They check your credit card for $1.00. I've had many Amazon accounts some of which lasting over a year and I've always left that one dollar on the prepaid credit card and never had a problem outside of the one time that I had accidentally spent that one dollar and Amazon wouldn't pay me until I gave them a new credit card, also with only one dollar on it. They check for that one dollar every time they are about to pay you.
Hope that helps.

I've heard lots of people say that you should have around $5 on the gift card at all times ... I assume they do that $1-4 test charge every so often ... and when they do you better have at least $4 on the card (or $5 just to be safe)

... and one more thing

Can Amazon tell if you are using a Gift CARD on your seller account as opposed to a real bank issued card that you get when you get when you open up a bank account?

all of my one vanillas have the same first 8 digits, so it really simple to block it if they don't like them

Oh ok... but I know they can block a card if they don't like them ... what I mean is

Can Amazon tell if you are using a Gift CARD on your seller account?

I use gift cards, no problem. They can tell, sure. Do they care? Not so much.

I've only seen them authorize a dollar from time to time to make sure it's valid. However, I always leave 20 just in case.

I ask because it seems that Amazon is much more forgiving of your account (and willing to give you second and even third chances) when you use an actual bank card as opposed to a Gift Card (this is just from my personal exp. of course)

@bboard

Been reports that 'gift cards' & VCCs have given issues with amazon.

Appears as of this moment to be the luck of the account holder.

Valid point is to have a high enough balance on any card that might be subject to 'testing'.

thanks

I asked that because I used to sell on Amazon under my real name (before I finally got suspended for high ODR back in 2010) and when I was doing that I used my real name and the real bank-issued card that everyone that opens up a account gets

... and, get this, there were MANY times that I didn't even have a dollar on it, I had a high ODR, many A-Z etc and Amazon never seemed to mind (well, once they did - but it was that one time)

Fastforward that now to 2013 and with the gift cards I'm using now ... Amazon seems to, while they accept them, they seem to have "a lot less tolerance" for any account that uses them

For instance, I've had two accounts in good standing DELETED within the past 3 months that had no issues with them other than the gift card I was using it under I happened to overspend and the balance ran under $5 ... sure enough within a day or two my account would disappear.

Basically, and this is probably stating the obvious, when your selling under ghost methods you really can't afford to have any loose ends ... but if you have "legit account" it seems Amazon knows it and lets you slide a bit more.
