| denism08 | 02-05-2013 06:22 PM | When to go Pro on Amazon? Hey guys I was just wondering when it is a good time to start selling professionally on Amazon?
I have heard that they ask for SSN as soon as you upgrade, is this true?
And if it is, what information can they see from the SSN? I know they can see the name but can they see address and etc....?
Thanks for the help!!! |
| Vetragor | 02-05-2013 08:34 PM | right away, when you register
you should provide EIN instead of SSN |
| Gamefreak | 02-05-2013 08:51 PM | Once you start selling more than 40 items a month thats what you should upgrade. They dont actually ask for it right away after you upgrade. Upon signup yes but if you upgrade then its different |
Agree on the 40 items limit - if you hit it and survive, might as well |

Are they more relaxed with professional selling status than individual? |
| AmazonStealth | 02-05-2013 10:13 PM | If you sell 40 or more items a month, or plan to very soon, just do it now. Have all tax info ready and make some green |

Thanks for the help!!! | amazon are slightly better than paypal.
They ask for EIN rather than the SSN.
Carefully named account should give no troubles.
Good Luck |

Good Luck | How do I obtain an EIN? Oh and another quick question, if I do provide SSN what info can they see from that. Is it just name or address etc..? |
| GreenBean | 02-05-2013 10:43 PM | Always avoid giving the SSN to any online platform except the IRS. Always. Regard the SSN as sacred.
1st option I recommend is to look at this site Internal Revenue Service
It explains all the options open to you. Then you could use the yellow pages of your state to get help to make an EIN. there's another online company that is good too. I'll find that info too

its my first amaz account so its under my real address name everything. | my account is a month old , listed some stuff and hadnt had a sale for 2 weeks.
had 12 sales in 2 days now im under review .
can still sell etc but money on hold while account reviewed, something about feedback etc...
pretty hard to get feedback as orders were only placed yesterday and day before .. shipped them straight away .. added track numbrs for 7 items . other 5 did nit ship with track number ..
total cost of all sales only £145
what to do now ? carry on or make products inactive ,
just recieved my first 5 star feedback actually ten mins ago |

Think - you are on probation now for the next month or so, so you need to be on your best behaviour. |

| Furious George | 02-07-2013 05:07 PM | I go pro the second an account starts selling more than 40 items per month.
That's when it makes economical sense. |
| lfld77 | 02-07-2013 05:50 PM | how to leave a tracking number when you dont have one ...
my point is...sale price is £4.99 free shipping
standard shipping cost for me is 0.90p
if i use a shipping service that has tracking number i would post prob be running at a loss
how to get around this when under review |

how to get around this when under review | get feedback.
obviously when you receive feedback, amaz know the sellers got the products.
to make it easier, put a slip in ur package kindly asking for feedback, that should help. |
| Furious George | 02-07-2013 06:18 PM | I would eat the cost when under review. It's the cost of doing business, if you want the account to stay active.
Unless there's some way I don't know about to mark as shipped. |

| Furious George | 02-07-2013 11:01 PM | I run one at the moment. In the past, I noticed I could only get one or two per computer. I think Amazon tracks more than the IP. Google does the same thing. |
| hapajenn1 | 02-08-2013 03:17 AM | for you guys doing the EIN route, is the EIN made on your real info/name, or is the EIN stealth as well? |
| Furious George | 02-08-2013 08:08 AM | Form SS-4 has to be filled out with your real, actual, bona fide information. That's the form you fill out to get an EIN. Although, no one can see who has the EIN except the IRS. Start a DBA, get a tax ID, and you're doing business under a new identity... legally. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:14 AM. | |
