My experiment, same IP new PC

Opened an account with amazon uk, same IP but new PC, been running a month now.So my conclusion is amazon are maybe changing there tracking methods more to browser fingerprinting and cookies etc as have realised that many people can use the same IP. Any thoughts

Still better to have a different IP when possible. It is not the main connector, but it can be used in conjunction with other linkers.

Come back in 6 months or longer with this premise.

Can be considered then.

The amazon I know will not change and make a single thing easier for anyone.

Market monopoly etc etc.

:nono:

GB, will do, but as more people are accessing AZ from work, university campus etc perhaps amazon are slightly moving away from the IP check. Also IP's are starting to run out. We have to remember AZ put all this protection to basically stop people ripping them off on sales and not initially for seller accounts.

IP will always be used as a unique identifier for new seller accounts - It's easier and takes less effort to use the IP. I'm guessing they combine the IP address with maybe several other identifiers to track sellers.

They don't always shut down accounts within 24 hours, and occasionally only flag you when you add a bank account.

My thought = your conclusion is based off of 1 experience with an account that has been ONLY running a month...cant make conclusions based on this. Any SIMPLE conclusions are dangerous.

1st IP was a suspended account?

Was the reused IP from a suspended account?

or a non suspended one?

Speeder33 05-14-2013 05:02 PM

i would never say that using the same ip is safe, amazon is very smart and can detect much more than ip, but ip is a very easy way for them to link you

MICKY H 05-14-2013 05:31 PM

WES, IP from a deleted account
RSOT, I know but its interesting

kockedoff 05-14-2013 05:36 PM

Maybe rules are different for UK than USA ?

last3379 05-14-2013 05:42 PM

What happens when 1 account gets banned/limited?
That IP might link and sink all your accounts sharing that IP

MICKY H 05-15-2013 05:22 AM

last3337, only one account running on this IP. The IP is on a static ip on a landline.

rsot 05-16-2013 12:09 PM

Static IP is annoying to work with but as long as only locked to 1 account, you can operate with it. Will be problems for future accounts though

GreenBean 05-16-2013 06:45 PM

Keep on experimenting then.

Good Luck
