I too have had a lot of trouble finding a 3v card. I know every shop that sells them and it took around a month of going out constantly to find a store with the in stock.

You can get the voucher for £11.50 (not £22 as mentioned) and it lasts 3 months. do this and it will both get you back on amazon and motivate you to find a card that works in that 3 moth period.

and that unfortunately is exactly why you can never find a 3v card in tesco and why they are starting to reduce stocks.

firstly what do you mean by amazons random check on cards ?

secondly I thought minimum top up was £20 hence £22 you will be charged for 3v

I don't get you guys, asking for an alternative to 3v and you are just banging on about 3v and the vouchers. What does the word alternative mean ??

I think the forums response is based on confidence - 3V cards (or vouchers) are used by the majority. The card has a good past track record, however there are alternatives. You're looking for any gift card that provides you with the ability to spend in any store (these provide a CC number and associated expiration date).

The usual places you can buy 3V cards have others on the same rack. You strike me as the kind of person who has funds available to test other cards but a good place to try would be Boots - the silver cards work well and are just one of many alternatives you can try.

Amazon does random test charges on cards - from 5-10 quids depending on activity...activity like: withdrawing to bank, listing an item, even sending an inquiry...examples.

Most of the cards are all by the same issuer, just branded differently.

For those struggling for 3v, if you ask in tesco what day the gift card rep refills the shelves they should tell you.

Normally refill every fortnight.

Really?? I dont get you. the question you first asked was

So the answer to that is a 3v card. What is an alternative to a 3v card? the answer is a 3v voucher. Are there other cards out there, sure there are but since the vast majority of people here get buy using one of those what do you expect? I mean god forbid you ever used the search function in the forum.

The minimum for a voucher is £10, with I think a £1.50 charge. Your question has been answered numerous times. Have the grace to be tahnkful or ask better questions.

I bought some 3v cards today, I could only find them in Boots and Tesco and ONLY in a value of £25.
They don't have a micro chip reader (Like a credit card), nor do they have the Visa sign, Although the paper card they were attached to DOES have the Visa sign.

Have I purchased the correct ones ??

I still think 3v is a better option, why use a service you have to apply for when you can just pickup a code in most shops.

Also I don't think this cards would pass the stealth address check (this would need to be tested)

Correct, they wont pass the AVS unless the card is signed up for under the stealth address.

Yup thats the one matey!

There should be a long code on the back, enter that on the 3v site to activate your balance, get your card number and a email with your cvv and expiry date on it.
