I use a 3V prepaid credit card, but I read that Amazon will close your account if you prepaid cards!

Is this true?!

Amazon dotn want you to use prepaid cards becuase they know prepaid cards have false name on it and cant hold much balance.

Recently some users are reporting that amazon DELETED their account for using prepaid cards. Forget closing and suspending it. Deleting is worse. you maybe lucky and they may never know.

In my opinion we have no other choice. So I take the risk but keep balances low across several accounts

I had several amazon accounts using 3v. But just recently 3v blocked most of my cards and kept my money, now they are asking for id

IF this is true, what about using a reloadable card with an initial starting balance of say $50-$100?

Just a thought.

I use a reloadable pre-paid 3V visacard!
It is a physical card, but it is pre-paid!
I can put extra money on it anytime I want.
But it is 3V and it is prepaid ad:

Here are facts:

-At least 2 users on this forum in last week who used prepaid cards have had their accounts deleted/blocked

-After amazon closed account they lied and told seller they think card is stolen/compromised

-So some people are lucky and can use, others not so lucky.

Conclusion:

-It is all luck

I was one of those people that had the account deleted. I can say that four other of my seasoned accounts have prepaid cards and are still running fine.

This is not true. Yes two people have had a problem. However both were in the US and using a different type of card.

I and many others use 3v without any problems. I have set up two accounts in the last month (one last Monday) and have had no problems. Right now it seems to be one forum member creating this rumour and there experience with 3v could be down to anyone of a hundred reasons.

For now at least I would take it that 3v is fine, if more members come forward then that may change.

3V is great, several accounts, USA UK DE etc and no problems.Just keep the card with a balance of at least £25 and remember they expire after 6 months.
Regarding how they can identify if the card is 3V card, this is basically down to the first 6 digits of the card number

They actually last for 12 months and not 6 months.

Actually its a minimum of 6 months, the cards have a pre printed expiry date on them, so it depends how long they have been on the shelf at the supermarket. Lets just say, keep an watch on the expiry date.

I'm thinking that having only a few dollars (<25) might cause concerns to AZ.

What about having a card with >$40-50 on it, and after a couple of days, order some small business item from AZ (ink or paper).

It could just be enough to have them think all is good with card.

Of course this is speculation, but only trying to think forward if changes might be on the horizon.

You need at least £25 on the card as amazon do random checks, they don't actually take the cash but get a pre authorisation on the card. Once the card is near expiration get a new one, and spend the cash on the old card in your local supermarket.

From the 3V website:

“Expiry Date” means the date 12 months after the last day of the month in which the applicable 3V Gift Card is purchased from a Retailer, beyond which the 3V Visa Number may no longer be used for online shopping transactions.

This is what I've found to be the case every time.

Yes agree for online shopping, but if you go into your local HMV to spend after the expiry date the card will be declined.

I would be careful if i were you, most of my 3v accounts were shut down/locked.

so keeping money in 43 accounts with 3v is not safe, try withdraw it somehow
