VMWARE question.

Do i need to install a new operating system for each account?

Or can i just use separate accounts, thanks.

Re: VMWARE question.

Accounts will do just fine.

I like to install XP, and you can get 10-12 accounts when your giving the machine 2 cores and 2-4GB ram before the login gets laggy. At least in my case.

Each account keeps their own browser cookies, etc.

But remember you will still need to change the IP prior to logging into ebay on the accounts, and the IP is usually the same as host adapter.

This is on the amazon thread, so just changing user stays true for amazon login as well? Or does one need to install a new OS to switch accounts on amazons?

It is still true, same principle.
Once you change account and ip there is a new "you" logging in.

Re: VMWARE question.

Ah damn. I've been logging in and out of VMware and changing ip just for amazon sales. Was just following stealth book. However, this process takes FOREVER To switch accounts.

So from what you're saying, I can simply switch my user account on my computer, change ip... BAM! All is good for amazon?

Can someone verify this?

Re: VMWARE question.

I would also love for someone to verify this.

I can't figure out Vmware (Whenever I try to power up a virtual machine, it says:

No boot filename received

Operating System not found)...

So I've been considering buying a netbook or something.

I'd love to be able to just do it with user accounts and changing i.p.

From what I gathered from the Amazon Ghost, it's not necessary to change the MAC address...only if you think you'll be raising red flags so that Amazon will sniff your account. In other words, Amazon doesn't routinely check the MAC address, only on suspect accounts.

Re: VMWARE question.

You should post your question in a separate thread, but anyway..

No boot filename received means it can not find the file to tell where to boot from. More than likely you never installed an OS or you started to install an OS onto a machine that already had a installation. You can just delete this VM and create another and be good to go.

No reason to buy a new netbook, unless you just want one. I prefer desktops for the space, but its your opinion.

Most change MAC address as it is an easy way to change IP at the same time.

Mind what you tell others to do as well. FFS

It is not giving me the option to edit post, probably since it was quoted.
Although the principle is the same for both eBay / Amazon? - Sometimes I forget what OP talks about.. :p

That's your problem.

And since it is AMAZON you should have paid better attention.

Some users operate their accounts differently. More AMAZON users make use of VMWARE. That was the title of the thread.

You managed to gloss over too much there.

Re: VMWARE question.

Not sure about the fuss. It was more a typing error than reading error. I use VMware for 95% of my accounts, so I am fully aware how everything works for such.

Re: VMWARE question.

Why do you bother using VMware for ebay accounts?

JRaynor101 01-15-2014 11:07 PM

Re: VMWARE question.

Unless a web server and the user are on the same ethernet segment, hosts can only see the IP address from the user's browser, not any affiliated MAC address. MAC is a link-local address and routers don't forward packets with link-local addresses so if there is at least one router between the web server and the client, the web server will only see the MAC of the router closest to it. The only way around this is to use some kind of Java app or ActiveX script, and these can be blocked/detected easily from the user.

So in a nutshell, the only MAC that eBay/Amazon can see is your router, unless you specifically let them see otherwise.

As for IP, all using VMWare can do is change your local-link IP. Your external is the same to outside sources, but the easiest way to change it is to turn your router on/off. If you have a static IP from your ISP, it is not possible to change your IP without a new internet connection.

:) I can get 4 different IPs from 1 Internet connection (1 host and 3 VMware) at the same time.

I have post pictures about this in the pass

All your VMs and host can have different IP addresses even through one physical adaptor but unless you have multiple contracts with your ISP, or some kind of multihome connection, you are mistaken as to what your broadcast IP is.

May I ask what the first 3 digits are of the addresses?

the IP is 74.xxx.xxx.xxx, and sometime 66, 73, 75 (I think)

I only have a basic cable Internet from Suddenlink.

Don't know what you mean by mistaken my broadcast IP. In each VMware and the host, I check my IP at IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!, whatismyip.com

I'm not an network guru but this is what I got and I run multiple VMware almost 2 years now with no problem. I have at-least 2 VMware running at the same time, plus the host. I can run more but the host PC is an old laptop and can't handle it.

I do network admin/maintenance for a living and what you're saying isn't possible, but my apologies if I am misunderstanding. To get different public IPs, you would need multiple outside connections (possible) on multiple VMs (also possible) through a single network adaptor (again, possible) but you do need those multiple connections.

What you are suggesting would be like having a single phone and phone line receive calls from multiple numbers that all connect and transmit - at the same time. True there are devices that can do it, but it tends to be more specialist equipment.

You can have different IPs all you want internally, obviously on any network every single computer device and VM has a unique IP identifier but the broadcast is all the same. The only time is changes is when the connecting device (Your modem, router, CTU or other such device) has been restarted. In the case those are absent and you are using your computer/VMs internal device to configure your internet connection, then yes it would be reset upon every restart.

Re: VMWARE question.

They might be stating that they piggyback off of the host's IP like I have been doing for VMware. I change the hosts and effectively it changes the virtual machines IP to be the same.

I do a few things such as change my MAC on router, reset router & modem, so it asks the ISP for a different external IP. Then change again - though the IP pool is slim when do this, may have to do a reset several times with different MAC's. And I also use a wifi device and a 4g jetpack to access other VM's.

I know that you will not agree with me when I type the message. But that is what I got. And I always run 3 Amazon at the same time for 2 years now with out linked
