Because I am planning selling on Amazon.com For example, even though I am Canadian, PayPal will still ask me if I am US resident and if I was to click yes then I would have to provide 1099 form.

it will ask you if you are a US resident.when you select canada.it'll ask you to confirm your address details for canada and click on those options where you certify that you as an individual or if its a company is not us based.thats in the form for amazon
Why would a Canadian resident have to pay tax in the USA....They don't. Yes you have to do the tax interview wizard, but you state you are Canadian and therefore not eligible to pay tax in the USA. These tax interviews are for amazon's safety with IRAS not for your benefit.

I am a foreign seller and not a U.S. taxpayer. Do I need to provide any information to Amazon?
If you are a non-U.S. taxpayer, the responses you provide to the tax interview wizard questions will create the appropriate tax form on your behalf.
IRS regulations require non-U.S. taxpayers to provide Form W-8BEN to Amazon in order to be exempt from U.S. tax reporting requirements.

you can declare youre a canadian resident for tax purposes. But you do have to fill the tax interview to declare that and then it'll bring you to a window where you certify that you as individual or if its a canadian company then theyre not us residents for tax purposes.

When they request you to fill out the appropriate form, as far as I can remember, you select your country and then there is an option to be exempt from it.
But it has been about a year since I set up my last account there, so not sure if the rules have changed.

Recently i have setup .com with UK details and gone through that tax interview. But when you select outside US, you can bypass any tax code. Thanks
What do you mean by this? So you go through the tax interview with UK? But if you pick another country "outside US you can bypass any tax code." What tax code? I looked up a copy o the W-8Ben form that I read amazon.com requires non-us residents to fill up. Here it is: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf
I see a section for "foreign tax identifying number." Does Amazon asks us for this? Is this the tax code that you mentioned you can by pass - so you are saying we can if we choose another country other than the UK and USA?
