Selling DVDs on Amazon

I'm sure many of you have noticed the new restrictions on DVDs on there now. Seems like they are really trying to push out the little man from the playground.

Has anyone had any success getting approved and maintaining good standing?

They apparently want 3 invoices just to get your foot in the door. I would be able to provide this, but am wondering a few things:

1. How far along should one's account be before attempting to sell gated products?

2. What if I start selling goods that were not included in the invoice? Will Amazon stop you and continuously ask for more?

3. Does getting approved in a category give you free reign to sell a wide variety and large quantity of goods? If not, then how slow should a seller go about things?

Although I'm skeptical of getting started selling DVDs on Amazon, the prices are much higher now that there is little competition, and I figure its at least worth a shot!

First, don't attempt to use DVAwholesale.com Wholesale Distributor Supplier of Closeout Merchandise as your supplier. I can attest 100% they are not allow invoices, etc... from this supplier. Furthermore, I was told via Amazon's support that it had to be from a brick/mortar store... they were not accepting online stores as suppliers.

Wow, that is very limiting. Only B&M wholesalers are acceptable as a supplier. Really narrows the playing field doesn't it?

Do you know if Mountain View Movies is acceptable? They sell online but I'm not sure if they also sell at a physical storefront.

I really don't know who would even qualify at this point.

There is a ONE massive supplier, if not the biggest in the world located in the UK, I KNOW they supply Amazon (all countries) themselves including, Lasgo Chrysalis, Blackwell's, WHSmith, Waterstones .... you name it.

You do need to apply for an account but you can pay proforma as well. Invoices are supplied and everything is legitimate. You wouldn't have any issue being accepted if you used these.

Margins are wafer thin though.

So I guess my bigger concern is staying on Amazon after providing the necessary documents to get my foot in the door. Does anyone know from experience if there are routine reviews that take place after getting approved?

Would selling more popular titles not included on the invoice flag the account, or will they give you free reign once you are eligible?

Basically, the account would get through the loops by making purchases from wholesalers at first, but in all practice, will use an arbitrage business model, which I think is the only real way to survive with decent margins.

Rolling reviews where they hold funds for 2 weeks and anything sold over that can be withdrawn, mostly seem to be if you make a bit of a mess up like I managed to do a while back

Once you are approved, are you always approved? Or will Amazon check in every so often and ask for more invoices?

I guess anyone with experience in any gated category could give me advice. I want to make sure I am prepared, or else I could be jumping into a fire pit.

Going to be tough to get advice on an open forum 1) methods discussed could be axed 2) people want to make profit - what's in it for the great sellers to tell you all the insider info? Perhaps pm people directly in the know who might want to discuss with you - I am just trying to be clear what impressions may be.

rsot right I aint giving up nothing. Not even the supplier to get you approved . You can list what ever you want so far I tested out boxsets movies single dvd no restriction .
