Default Do books cause the same problems as namebrands??

I've just found a book at a big box store I can resell nicely for a profit......

But im just wondering if that could create the same problems as selling namebrand electronics?

Are books safe to sell?

Books are safe. The only thing to be careful of is to not overstate the condition of a used book. Fifty percent of my profits come from rare books. The profit margins are awesome. It is slow to start, however, since you have to build your inventory.

But, yes, you can re-sell a book that you find at a big box store. Just make sure the popularity is decent so it does not sit on your shelf for 2 years. Check the Amazon sales rank to make sure it is not 1,272,435 in popularity.

Since books have not YET been heavily counterfeited, there are usually no issues in selling them, except for international editions of textbooks.

Nope, this item is brand new. I'm just worried about people reading them then wanting a return. I've never sold books and this is a $300 book.

I have VERY FEW returns on books and I sell quite a few rare ones in that price range.

Just make sure that you ship an expensive book like that with insurance AND signature confirmation. That way, in the event the buyer is a scammer, you have proof to back you up and if the book is damaged in transit, you are covered. Yes, it costs a little bit, but it can save you a lot of grief.

Question for you Jeff:

I've never paid much attention to sales rank when purchasing used items to re-sell. What # do you use as the "cut-off" for sales rank?
